Is banning handguns a "reasonable regulation"?

Our nation's capitol is supposed to be a little more in line with our nation's supreme law, the constitution, right? Or am I way off base?

You would think so....unfortunately, it seems to have gone to the opposite end of the spectrum and exemplified everything that is NOT in line with our constitution. Go figure.

Yes, DC leaves an impression of enormous Federal power and consumption. Those monuments ain't free.

I bet you $100 Thomas Jefferson wouldn't approve of his own memorial.

Not to mention the nonstop surveillance of DC citizens (traffic cameras and gunshot sensors) and gun laws on par with those of Mao Zedong's China.

I don't know, if it was [sic] legal, I wouldn't think twice about carrying an AR15 with me everywhere I went in DC.

I was a bit nervous crossing a desolate bridge and seeing 4 urban youths of African descent walking the other way. Nothing happened of course, but if they had wanted to rob me, I don't think a pistol would have done a good enough job.
Was it the fact they were African, urban, or youths that disturbed you? And how did you know they were from Africa? Did you ask? Might they have been from Jamaica? Or Minneapolis??

What if it had been someone carrying an AR15 crossing that desolate bridge?

Please explain.

As a general observation, it seems that in those countries in which law-abiding citizens are not allowed to have handguns, only two groups have them: criminals and the government, and those two become ever-harder to distinguish.

Things that made me nervous:

1) I was unarmed.
2) There were more of them.
3) I was not in a tourist area.
4) D.C. is extremely dangerous.
5) There are thousands of guns in DC.

How did I know they were of African descent? They were black. How about African American? What did that tell me? It told me that they were locals, and therefore far more likely to commit a crime of violence against me then a visitor. If it were 4 white males in suits I would not have been afraid at all.

Yes, I'm stereotyping. I had every right to be nervous in that situation.
