Is Bore Snake better than clean rod?

I use boresnakes in the field/ at the range. They fir in my ARs buttstock along with the toothbrush, rag, Q-tips, and mini CLP bottle, making a more useful kit than a GI buttstock kit. FWIW if you accidentally bump the stock of an AR on the ground and thereby trip the bolt release your boresnake may become shorter.

I use and like boresnakes, but I feel as if a cleaning rod and a jag get them cleaner. Or at least, I feel as if they do a more thorough job.

I own boresnakes for most of my weapons, and I use them when I want to do a "quickie" job. They don't clean as well as a good soak and a brush, but if the alternative is not cleaning it at all due to time issues, a boresnake is a whole lot better than skipping it altogether.
