I was thinking ofgetting my cousin a bb gun (their parents are okay with it)
but would it be legal to give them one of my daisy 901 powerlines, they are 14 years old and the guns says you gotta be 16... does it matter.....?

Check state and local laws regarding possession of airguns by minors. What Daisy says does not matter; they're just covering their butts.

I had a bb gun at age 8. You need to be sure that their parents know that this isn't a toy and could cause property damage or hurt their kid.

Kids with BB Guns need to be supervised, or you'll have all of your neighbors suing you for broken windows.

What about kids with baseballs? I broke more windows with that (3) then I did with a BB gun (1). BB gun hole didn't get noticed till winter...baseball was pretty much right away. Just sayin.

First (as it seems you have done) make sure the parents are on board with this.
THEN sell/give the gun to parents. THAT distinction removes any problems.
I agree with supervision and many rules. Neighbors window gets cracked "your son did it with his BB gun" Thing is the BB gun was locked up because my brother broke a "rule" for last month. So HOW did I shoot out your window this morning? (Glad when they moved)

I gave a Red Ryder to our freiends' son when he was about 6 or 7. (MI it's legal).

I gave a kid a dart set when he was 8 and some caretakers got mad at me. "Darts are for adults!" they said.

You have to tell us

what state and city that you live in, the laws are all mixed up.
For instance, if you reside in San Francisco, you can not shoot an air or bb gun in your own back yard ..but you can one block away from the city
(I think they are also illegal to own)

Good on ya for getting them a bb gun, they are great fun.

In the great BB gun wars of NJ in 1969 I got a BB stuck right above my eye!
(ouch)

Yes you can if the parents are ok with it :D

BB guns (at least the Daisy ones) are legal to purchase and not a FFL issue :D

Either that or give the kids the gun in the parent's presence.

I would NOT give a firearm, knife, or anything potentially dangerous to someone else's children without securing their parent's approval beforehand, and the gifting would take place either through the parents or in their presence.

I got a BB gun when I was 6. I DID shoot some holes in some windows with it (No parental supervision and ignorance/mischeviousness on my part) Fortunately, it was our own house. My mom got pretty upset and busted my BB gun to small pieces. In hindsight, I understand now. It cost several dollars to have the panes replaced which we didn't really have at the time. Next time I got close to a gun was when I was 12 or so. I was strictly supervised then.

Welcome to THR!

Give it to the parents, they're the ones who are fully responsible for their children.

Man, I started out shooting bb guns at 7 and didn't know there was laws in possessing them. Interesting.

man, by sixteen I think most kids are done with BB guns...
that sounds like a good thing you're doing, as long as you're enforcing the fundementals along with the fun. my five year olds are learning the ropes on cheap little 20 dollar buck lever action BB rifle. but they always recite the 4 rules before hand.

IF the parents ok it, it's legal in MOST states, check your state law(or atleast tell us what state you're in).
