Check this link out www.wimers.net/handgun.html. This is a nice enough website and he has some less common offerings, but he's asking $6,495.00 (previously $7,995.00) for a the "357 Regstd Mag 8 3/4"Blue 49,601" a Smith & Wesson registered pre 27 .357 mag. Look about a third of the way down the page.

I find it interesting that nearly all his stock cites markdowns of $300.00 or more. I saw a similiar S&W pre 27 on an auction site recently that was over $4,000.00 less, unfired, in box with paperwork and everything. What am I missing here? :scrutiny:

Looks like another opportunist to me. What do you people think?

I'm familiar with his site but have never done business with him. Other posters have informed me that a) his prices are always exhorbitant and b) his rating system is "generous." Dunno if that's true since I've never bought from the man.

Wimer's known far and wide for his ridiculous prices. In fact, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought 'I bet it's George Wimer'. Sure enough.....

High priced...should be around 4K max

That being said I have seen some of his guns and they were graded appropriately

Yep. There's nothing wrong with making the most of one's opportunities—I've never been known to turn down a pay raise, for example—but I'd guess this individual is waiting for suckers to come along. Personally, I'd have more pride.

Well, I have to agree that a man can charge what he wants, but I did a triple-take on that one. :uhoh: Based upon the pictures of his stock, I'd have to say that most of it looks like it is in great shape, but I agree that he's targeting (no pun intended) those who are very poorly informed about pricing.

:) Seems George is mentioned quite frequently on the S&W forum. :uhoh: The way S&W prices keep going up unless he has a price increase maybe one day his prices will fall in line! :p

I bought my registered from George and feel it was reasonably graded and I got a fair price for what I got. Look at the gun though, it has the box, it is in very good shape, it has the letter and some of the history. Frankly it is a bit high, but George is catering to the collector, not the shooter per se.

If I had the 7k$ for it, I would have bought it already.

"I've never been known to turn down a pay raise"

I turned down a big one a couple of years ago.

Of course, it would have meant uprooting my family and moving them halfway around the world for a minimum of 5 years.

Thanks, no thanks.

I'll tell you what... the 44 Mag Model 29 4†Blue 185,xxx 99½%....Was $1,395 Now $1,095 sure got my attention... blue worn near the muzzle from holster wear which means I could use it as a shooter without guilt. ;) Only a tad too much money for that old beauty.
