to shoot 00 buck thru a full choke? I have a mossberg 835 that I intend to use to shoot coyote out to 65 yds. will this work or should I put the modified choke in it? I plan on going out tomorrow, so please do tell.

Yes, it is perfectly safe.

But it may or may not produce the best results.

I'd try a more open choke.

Better yet, set up a patterning board or a big cardboard box and try different chokes.

Regardless, 65 yards is going to be a fur piece to reliably hit/kill a coyote with 00 buckshot out of any choke.
At best, you will probably only get one or two pellets on target.

I think you might want to get closer!

No, not even close.

#4 Shot = .130" dia, 135 pellets per ounce.
#4 Buck = .24" dia, 21 pellets per ounce.

At 65 yards, you'll probably scare him off with the noise before you bag him at that range...That is if you can get that close before he spooks.

The full coke can produce excellent tight patterns with Buckshot. My Excel Auto 5 with full choke gets 4" to 6" tight pattern at 25 yards. Like many have said, 65 yards would be pushing it. You better carry a rifle with you.
