is leupold worth it?

well my new leupold vx2 2-7 came last night from amazon/optics planet. going to mount it in burris low zee rings and sight it in and see how it does. i plan on shooting it right before dark and see how it compares to my Nikon on a 44mag rifle. from what i can tell its about 30% clearer to me but what i liked most is the Nikon seems to show the inside walls of the scope where the leupold doesn't.

I think you made a reasonable choice for your needs. I picked up a pair of Leupolds in the past 2 weeks for an air rifle and a .357 lever carbine, both in 1.5-4X. Had you still been looking, I'd have recommended a 1X or 1.5X for size as levers always look awkward when scoped (to me) and for the weight savings.

To me Leupold represents the best brand of scope the typical guy will ever own. It is a considerable step up from the Bushnell Banner his other rifles wear and for most North American game they will see a Leupold will perform admirably. I can afford nicer but I don't need nicer and my vision prefers Leupold in the "sometimes imported" beer budget range.

Another thing i liked a lot was the machined, designed and assembled in the U.S.A logo on the bottom. I would love to upgrade my other scopes to leupold but funds wont allow that right now. plus i don't use them in severe situations like i will my deer gun.
