Gotta keep this short as I'm at work.

A friend of mine is wondering if the 1895 Nagant Sporter model offered by SOG for $195 (!) is worth the extra $100 over the typical 1895 that is currently on sale for $80.
The Sporter seems to have different grips, a bull barrel and adjustable rear sights. It is a good deal uglier than the run-of-the-mill Nagant, which seemingly is one of the main reasons why he likes it.

He's primarily curious about any improvements in the trigger. Hopefull they are a bit lighter and crisper than what I've heard the Nagant revolvers to have.

Thanks in advance.

They are much rarer target revolvers used by Soviet competitors in international and regional shooting competitions. In other words, they are highly collectible and will retain their value quite well. They are hand-made and feature many customizations making no two the same. They have better triggers, by and large, than the run of the mill Nagants as well. In other words, they are really neat.

I was tempted to buy one, but not so tempted I did buy one!

That price seems right and while I somewhat like the standard model I own, the double action pull and even the single action are horrible!

I read somewhere that the Soviets actually have won some international shooting competitions with modified Nagant revolvers so maybe the extra $100 is worth it.
