I have one that I bought in 2003 that I still use. Be careful with the wire cutters. It is easy to overstress them if you start trying to cut cable or hard steel wire, and after that the pliers are hard to open and close freely. Other than that its a great tool.

I carry one every day and it saves me a lot of trips to the truck. Whatever you buy make sure you can open the blades while the tool is closed.

I had an older wave that I enjoyed pretty well right up until I lost it. I replaced it a year or so ago with a newer Wave, and while I don't have anything bad to say about it, I just didn't like it as well in comparison. So much so that I literally just sold it to my roommate. Good tool and everything, just not for me anymore. I personally am going to make the switch to a SOG powerlock.

I have one I bought in 1995/1996.

Carry it to every highpower rifle match, and to every Camp Perry that I have gone.

If you ever had to clear a jammed case in a AR-15, you really appreciate needle nosed pliers.

Leatherman tools, and I am carrying the discontinued PST-II, are made by someone who understands tool use.

For example, the slotted screwdrivers have a flat tip and square edges. You need that so the screwdriver does not jump out of its slot.

My Gerber multitools, I have had to grind the screwdriver blades flat and square.

I like the edge I can put on the knife blade, whatever stainless Leatherman uses takes a good edge and is properly heattreated.

If I had one complaint, it is that if you get a little off axis with the screwdrivers, they will fold down.

I miss the leather carry pouch. Leatherman stopped supplying the wave in a leather pouch, now it is nylon. :(

I've heard good things about SOG tools but I like my wave. Four or five stars, easy, and it goes with me just about everywhere. I'd feel naked without it.

SOG for sure...I have a wave and my dad has a SOG and I like how the SOG has the geared plier action...easy to open with one hand and geared for more leverage

+1 on not using the Wave to cut hard wire...I mistakenly let some scrub boy scout borrow it and he proceeded to try to cut a stainless deck screw in half...bent those wire cutters right up
