Hello all,

I have always liked the idea of an all steel, all black P226, especially one with night sights and Hogue rubber grips, and Sig currently has such a gun in production; the P226 Black Stainless (E26R-9-SBSS). My question is, is this version likely to go out of production soon, or is it here to stay? I don't think Sig produced a gun like this a few years ago, and I'm wondering if i should act now, or continue to let things cool down. Also, i'd love to hear any from any black stainless owners out there on how it shoots.

It looks like the 226ST (which isn't cataloged, but still in production) to which they have applied their Nitron finish.

Since they have repeatedly declined to apply their Nitron, over the years, to stainless frames, I would not think this gun would be in production for an extended period. I remember a limited run of Nitron 220STs a few years back...I think it was for two years

Folks who want a ST model in a dark color have been having them Melonited

Having said that, here is a picture of a seldom see factory Nitron finish on a SIG X-5 L-1

@9mmepiphany-thanks for the reply. I do believe the black stainless version is just a Nitron'd P226ST with Hogue grips and night sights. If Sig doesn't normally Nitron stainless P226's, then that is an indication that i should snatch one up:).

Still wondering if anyone else has any more insight on whether or not this pistol will be in production long term.

I'm going to the local Gander this morning to see if they can order one of these for me and how much $.

Happy St. Patty's weekend everyone!
