I have run across an SR9 at a reasonable price. Is this a good firearm or is it something to stay away from? Specifically the trigger. What do you SR9 owners think? Thanks.

The problem with the SR-9 is a design problem that is being corrected. How many times do we have to say "just don't carry one in the chamber because it will discharge if dropped with the safety off?"

The guns shoot great, and if you don't carry them loaded with one in the pipe, there's not a problem at all. I've had 3 other guns fixed recently, and the manufacturers didn't include a new magazine with them when they shipped them back... so what's the problem?

This whole issue is way overblown. My view is that "there's a problem if you're careless with the gun"... which is a problem if you're careless with a gun anyway... even if it's fixed.:what:

If you've got a deal on an SR-9, buy it. It'll take a week to get fixed when you get your box from Ruger.

Depends on how fast you can draw and rack your slide from concealed carry, or if you have a concealed carry holster with a lock. The name of the game is don't let the gun hit the ground with one in the chamber and the safety off.
Personally, I've never seen it as a big issue.

well ruger is doing the right thing. you shouldn't be handling a loaded pistol with the saftey off untill your ready to fire anyway. the real saftey is between your ears. alot of guns will go off if there chabered, cocked, and droped with the safteys off, espesially older guns. newer guns have more saftey mechanisms so they don't go bang untill the bang switch is pressed. ruger makes real good firearms they will get it right. there P90 DC was the best out of the box .45 i've had to date.

What is this this 1889?

First off let me say that I'm taken by the SR9 it's a really neat pistol. I'll probably own one in the future. BUT

Perhaps you guys don't understand the danger here. We're not talking spiking the handgun against concrete like a football. The SR9 I handed released the striker from being dropped muzzle first on a carpeted floor from a height of less than 2 feet. This is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and the firearm shouldn't be sold. This would be akin to a car dealer selling a new car with no brakes

Sounds like, as is, it's not a suitable defensive or service pistol.

I heard that the recall only effects a certain serial number range at my local gun store, or at least that's what they were telling a guy who was asking about them last time I was browsing.
