I had the opportunity to shoot a Ruger SR9 last night. I've had an SR9c for about 6 months now and have become fairly proficent with it. I thought that the SR9 would shoot and feel about the same as the 9c but the difference in the triggers was daylight and dark. The trigger on my SR9c breaks at around 4.5 pounds. The SR9 I shot last night must have had a trigger pull around 15 pounds or so! In fact, when I first tried to shoot it I thought I had somehow put the safety on. This pistol belongs to a friend who bought it maybe 3 years ago. This is only the second time its been shot. As I recall, Ruger recalled some of the early SR9 models for trigger issues. Does this sound like the problem the early SR9's were having? My friend only shoots maybe once a year but I'd like for his equipment to be functioning properly when he does take it out.

I thought that I heard the SR9C triggers were way better than the SR9 when they came out. I also thought I heard that the SR9 trigger was reworked to be similar to the SR9C.

I am not much help, but maybe someone can confirm?

The original SR9 was recalled because some guns would fire if dropped. The trigger was replaced with a Glock style trigger. Original and recalled SR9s had a somewhat gritty trigger. The latest version of the SR9 with the "D" shapped mag release button has the improved smoother trigger which according to Ruger is the same trigger that's in the SR9c. The trigger in my new SR9 is way better than the one that was in the original SR9 I owned and sold.

My friends trigger is the "Glock style" one. His trigger pull isn't so much gritty as it is just extremely heavy. Seriously probably three times heaver than my SR9c. I'm not a great shot but I can usually keep my SR9c in two inches at 10 yards. I could barely keep his pistol in 4 inches at that distance. Any thoughts on improving this trigger (if he wants to)?

He could always talk to Ruger about it, see what they say.

i have both...before trigger improvement they wer about the same the sr9c being slightly better..after putting the 70 drop in trigger kit it made both guns have a sweet trigger but once again the sr9c for some reason was better by a little bit(not sure y because they have the same trigger parts and trigger)

if it really is in fact 15 pounds..thers a problem..might want to turn it in or take it apart and have a look see

I have the original SR9 and had the mod done. One thing I did was not dry fire the pistol until I removed the mag safety.

I doubt the trigger on my SR9 is heavier than 6-8 pounds.

I haven't shot a C, but the trigger on my SR9 is perfect for me and I'm as or more accurate with it as I am with any of my other nines.
