So can someone in Cali order one and have it shipped to an FFL and pay the FFL the normal transfer fee?

My best friend lives in Salinas, and wants to buy a SP101 for shooting and to carry in his locked sidecases whilst traveling. Can he order one offline and have it legally shipped to a California FFL?

The sp101 was legal as of 4 years ago when i bought mine. the state DOJ website has a list of approved handguns for California.

I just looked at the state DOJ web site last night and that wasn't listed as banned. What is banned from what I understood is, non face to face transactions of weapons and ammunition.
Of course if you live in Arizona as I do you don't have to be concerned with the rediculous laws of California. Here we can carry anything we are strong wnough to cart around and that includes an AR15, shotguns, brass knuckles, switch blades, mace, taser's, sledge hammers, hand grenades and RPG's if you have the FFL for them. Absolutely nothing is illegal to own or carry here. We are even legal to own and use slincers, but not for hunting because it apparently gives us an unfair advantage.

Some bad info here. In CA, normal people can't have a gun shipped to their door, but YES you can have ammo shipped to you. A recent law that was intended to restrict this activity was immediately challenged and found to be illegal by the courts.

As far as the SP101 goes, both the 2.25" and 3" are on the roster (which only applies to new gun sales, by the way - if a gun comes off the roster that doesn't make the gun illegal). If you can buy them at a CA gunstore, then you can also get them online if they go through a CA FFL.

the only two FFLs there want $640.00 for one which is list

Welcome to the People's Republic of California. Everything is more expensive. Even if your friend has the gun shipped in, kal dealers often make up for lost revenue by charging huge transfer fees. Then you've got the DROS fee.
