Which revolver is the closest to being the .38 or .357 big brother to the Smith 617?

In current production, with stainless steel (6xx series):
The 686 would be the big brother in .357 with its full underlug. However, it is an L-frame, meaning the grips would likely interchange with it's K-frame cousin (as long as both have the same style: round or square). Holsters would likely not interchange.
With out a full underlug (look at the pictures on Smith's website, note the "shroud" hiding the ejector rod), there is the 619 (fixed sights) and 620 (adjustable sights).
Smith's current production does not include K-frame .357's as they were originally designed to be carried (and rarely shot) with .357 and practiced with .38. A full diet of .357s has been known to take a toll on these models.
Current K-frame .38 production (in stainless) include the Model 64 (stainless version of the Model 10 --the classic .38 Military and Police) and Model 67.
If I have made any mistakes others will be along shortly to correct me.
I am a proud 686+ (-6) owner, though I would prefer a blued version.

IMHO just about any K-frame .38 or .357 will be its 'big brother,' but if you are looking for a stainless option, then jjbduge2004 covered pretty much all of your bases. Models 64, 65, 66, and 67 are all K-frames and stainless. Haven't kept up with current production, but those are what you're looking at.
to find the actually "big brother" to the 617, you have to go back to the older designations.
when the .22lr model was called the M-17, it's big brother was the M-14...both were actually matched in balance.
the 17 had a thinner barrel while the 14 used a larger rib to compensate for the larger bore
