I have a Dillon 550B that I bought VERY lightly used and am loading 9mm on it. I've run through thousands of rounds, but I have a persistent problem. The center spindle that holds everything together rotates with the shell plate until it tightens so much, I can't rotate the shell plate. Every round I rotate, I have to counter-rotate the center spindle back into place. It's so common, I've used white out so that I can mark its location to rotate it back into place.

Is there a "fix" to keep the center spindle from rotating while rotating the shell plate?

I'm such a moron...thanks, it works perfectly now! I knew there had to be something, but I didn't know what it is.

That should teach me to wait so long to ask...

hdwhit, easy now, I'm just learning and getting started. It took me a few thousand rounds to discover the problem, come up with "my" fix and then get fed up enough to ask the question. I feel so FREE now....

I was going to answer, "Yes, a Dillon 650", but I like cp1969's answer a lot more. :)
While true, the easiest answer would have been to call Dillon - they could have told you how to do it in 5 minutes or less. Even though you bought it used, they will still support you for free like RCBS does.

Thanks for the tips, but when it occurred to me to ask the question, it was outside of business hours, so you guys answered it just as quickly as calling a business would have. The internet is ALWAYS open...

Thank y'all.

Since the link provided above isn't working for me right now, my next question is that the transfer bar for the primers isn't moving that last half millimeter necessary to drop a new primer every time. I have to manually pull the transfer bar to be sure the new primer dropped into place. There is a thin metal "cover" over top of the apparatus to, I assume, keep parts from flying out or getting lost. Is there another trick to make sure the transfer bar moves far enough back to pick up a new primer without me manually pulling it each time?

No functional differences. The frame has changed as well as the way two pivots are held in place but I think the move from B to C was to avoid confusion with the 550 BL.

This assumption comes from the fact that they also changed the frame on the 650 (at the same time) and didn’t change the name on it but there is no BL 650 to confuse things.
