Is this a good scope for a CZ 527?

I picked up a CZ 527 Carbine in FBMG's CZ group buy and I was looking around for a nice scope for it. I came across this while buying optics for my Saigas and I thought I would get some opinions on it.

Would it make a nice match for a 527 Carbine? Would you use something different?

Are you going to be hunting with this rifle? I prefer something with an adjustable power when hunting in thick woods. It aids in target identification. Your needs may be different.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer about that particular optic as I am not familiar with it.

I should have worded my question better. I was wondering if it looked like it would fit, clear the bolt handle and not be obscured by the irons.

Its a red dot, similiar to a Trijicon but Russian. I plan to use this rifle to make holes appear in paper as if by magic.

I would say , that it does not look like it would fit a 527, they use a pretty long bridge, and if you are familiar with the cz bolt handle, they are notorious, for not liking anything that isn't very high mounted, or a small eyepiece bell.

Maybe they know...And you can find out if their customer service is worth a flip. A fast response to a potential buyer will surely be a good sign.

Sounds like a good plan.

How far away are the dovetails on the x39 527 Ranger? I plan on asking them how long the mount is and how high the optic sits. I figure if it can be mounted in front of the bolt handle its worth a shot.

I'll be amazed if that will work on a 527. In fact, I'm pretty much willing to guarantee that it won't. The scope has to be mounted fairly high to clear the bolt handle. I use a 2-7x scope mounted in medium high rings on my 527 and have to use a 1/2" comb pad to get a proper cheek weld and eye alignment.

RNB65- Since its a red dot, I was hoping to mount it in front of the bolt handle.

In looking at the pics on the Kalinka website, it looks like the problem you're going to have is that the position of the scope on the dovetail rail appears to be fixed and it's going to sit directly above the bolt handle. It if was a Picatinny or Weaver style rail where you could move the sight back and forth to find the best position it might work. But this one doesn't look promising.

Does anyone make a Picatinny or Weaver rail that will fit the dovetail slots on the 527? If so, you could put any type of reddot on it with no problem.

I don't know the direct answer, whether that monstrosity will work or not. I do know that you can have your gunsmith reprofile your bolt so that it will clear the ocular lense in your scope for a relatively reasonable price.

I use Warne medium rings on my 527 and it works beautifully with the reworked bolt. To me it is easier to spend $25 on the bolt and use the rifle with a very comfortable cheek weld than it is to buy high rings and find a way to raise my head up to meet the scope.

YMMV.

To OP, why not purchase a 1-4x Leupold or something that will grace the lines of that rifle and allow you to do all that you have suggested which you KNOW will work?

Not really interested in my rifles lines or finding ways to grace them.

The 527 carbine is a small, light, quick rifle so I was hoping for a small, light, quick red dot. The idea is to see if I can make the rifle any faster. The one listed above might not be as attractive as you might like but if it can

1.) span the gap between the two dovetails
2.) its eye piece clears the bolt
3.) not be obscured by the iron sights

it will seems like it will make one hell of a cool addition to the 527 carbine while not adding any real bulk to the rifle.

I will too, but only because $350 is alot to spend on one might not fit. A red dot is perfect for a brush rifle.
