I also posted this on the General Discussions forum, but I was wondering if an attack on illegal immigrants in the US by the military of the country they are from is just a crime, an international crime or an act of war?

Anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

Three men arrested Monday were hired by drug cartels to carry out assassinations in Arizona, according to the President of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association.

The president of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association said he has been told by his membership that the three men arrested for a home invasion and homicide this past Monday morning, are active members of the Mexican Army hired by drug cartels to perform home invasions and assassinations in Arizona.

Mark Spencer said his officers have related to him that one of the men captured said they were completely prepared to ambush Phoenix police, but they ran out of ammunition. The home invasion early Monday morning resulted in the death of the homeowner. Between 50 and 100 rounds had been fired at the house.

Spencer says the men involved were all dressed in military tactical gear and were armed with AR-15 assault rifles. Three other men involved in the home invasion escaped.

I'm not sure, but I do know one thing, the AR-15 is not an assault rifle. If the article can't get a simple fact like that straight, I don't know what to believe...

I have been listening to the local radio yesterday and today, and they repeatedly say the perps were armed with fully automatic weapons and that they intended to lure the policie into an ambush but they ran out of ammo. Exactly how they would know that I am not sure, but I believe it probably is a result of police interrogation of the suspects.

This is getting to be some pretty scary times in the Phoenix metro area!

Very short on facts, but the article makes it sound like they were acting on behalf of the drug cartels. That makes them criminals. I believe for it to be war, they'd have to be acting on orders from the mexican gov.
