There have been many discussions on this forum regarding the use of SWAT teams and Tactical units for no-knock raids. This article gives me goose bumps and raises the hairs on the back of my head! Another good reason for Police Departments to act like police and not storm troopers!
It is getting easier every day for the citizen to confuse the good guys with the bad guys!

Three men arrested Monday were hired by drug cartels to carry out assassinations in Arizona, according to the President of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association.

The president of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association said he has been told by his membership that the three men arrested for a home invasion and homicide this past Monday morning, are active members of the Mexican Army hired by drug cartels to perform home invasions and assassinations in Arizona.

Mark Spencer said his officers have related to him that one of the men captured said they were completely prepared to ambush Phoenix police, but they ran out of ammunition. The home invasion early Monday morning resulted in the death of the homeowner. Between 50 and 100 rounds had been fired at the house.

Spencer says the men involved were all dressed in military tactical gear and were armed with AR-15 assault rifles. Three other men involved in the home invasion escaped.

Holy illegal immigrants, Batman!

Duplicate thread but like I mentioned in the other one, the AR-15 is not an assault rifle. If an article can't get a simple fact like that right, it loses a lot of credibility in my book.

if only they would have had enough ammo!.. These turkeys aren't pros, thank goodness, but it's sure getting harder and harder to deny that there is a huge problem with our border. The National Guard gets chased away from the border by armed thugs, and now Mexican army enlisteds are being hired for assasinations. I hope the local LEO's are very well armed!

Easy to tell the difference - the good guys (High Roaders) would be able to loan ammo to the police.

And guys, arguing about definitions of types of rifles is just going to confuse the media... The real question isn't what variety of boomstick - it's self defense.

one of the men captured said they were completely prepared to ambush Phoenix police, but they ran out of ammunition.

In what possible way are you "completely prepared" to ambush someone when you've run out of ammo before the shooting even starts?

Active duty troops from a foriegn nation operating W/in our borders is an act of war.

I am curious if this will be handled as a civilian matter or will they be treated as hostile combatants

very scary since it seems I have read now a couple times
not just these types but other gang guys are now dressing in police gear and raiding homes yelling POLICE when they enter !!!

so what do we do ?

I dont do anything wrong at all ! if the police kick down my door they did it with bad info ! in that case its hard to say if it will ever happen in my neighborhood ?

have to cross that bridge if it ever happens !

Submit! Comply! Be passive!

If they're Cops, demonstrate your ebeisance and maybe they won't charge you with resisting arrest!

If they are gangsters, you don't want to make them angry...your life could be in danger!

You can't possibly know who is kicking your door in until it happens and then it's too late. Not to sound alarmist but you can't really prepare for a situation like this. Don't do buisness with Mexican drug cartels and don't break the law in a way sure to send the SWAT teams in and you should be pretty safe, however law enforcement agencies have got the wrong address before and they have ways to double check information the Mexican Army most likley does not. By the way, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts they will not be charged as enemy combatants because their orders did not come from the Mexican government. :(

So how do you know if it’s the police or the Mexican army kicking your door in?
Vague smell of powdered sugar = cop; accompanied by a mariachi band = Mexican Army; smell of churros = Mexican cops.

I kid, I kid.

Really? That's like saying that if a sailor on shore leave commits a crime it's an act of war. It seem to me that they would have to be actions under orders to make it an act of war.

Besides that, it's not like Mexico (and Canada) haven't knowingly sent dangerous non-state actors across our border; which to me is a much more serious act.

The good guys serve warrants, double check their facts, obey the law and treat citizens as innocent till proven guilty. Anyone not doing that in my mind is violating my rights when they are on my property. I agree with you Thernlund and Doc2m!

Sorry, but that's where you are very wrong.

This group is called Zetas--they are active duty and former active duty Mexican special forces troops who formed a gang to be muscle for the cartels. The cartels obviously pay better than the Mexican government and these folks work for the highest bidder.

I've had firsthand dealings with some of these Zetas. They are NOT to be taken lightly. Take them lightly, especially if you have no previous combat experience or specialized training, and you will have made a very fatal and very final decision.

As a former sog troop myself, the Mexican special forces to us were almost an oxymoron in the same vein as "jumbo shrimp" and "Congressional Intelligence Committee."

But, we judged them by OUR standards.

In my later years in civilian law enforcement, I saw what these same troops could--and did--do against your ordinary run-of-the-mill drugthugs. In short, they obliterated them.

It would be no different than if we turned one of our old SEAL teams loose on some Crips or Bloods. The Drips and Cruds might be badasses in their own neighborhood, but against trained, experienced special-operations warriors, it would be lambs to the slaughter.

And that is a far better analogy to these Zetas and their tactics against enemies of their employers.

I'm telling you--these people are bad news. I was pretty good in my day, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to go up against them with a handful of untested civilian pals. Now with my old teammates. . . . bring 'em on. But that's not reality.

2 +2 = 5 Right?

I have a really hard time W/ the concept that these Mexicans are highly trained special forces operatives working for the multi- billion dollar drug cartels, and couldn't scare up some ammo in the land of the midnite Wal-Mart.

Then again I have problems W/ a lot of people who claim to be high speed , low drag operators around here.

I covered problems such as this back in 2004 when I wrote an article about the border wars and illegal immigration... Here's a few select paragraphs from the paper. I don't know where my final revised copy wound up, so here is my final rough draft (similar to the final overall). I apologize for any repeat words or other such errors that appear.

...

According to Jack Foote, leader of Ranch Rescue, a group of brave citizens who defiantly patrol the border, turning back drug smugglers, illegal aliens, potential Al-qaeda operatives, and a whole host of other criminals, the border is a war zone (Foote). Mr. Foote cites many examples, the most recent being an attack on an Arizona man on March 20, 2004. The man was in his trailer on his forty-acre plot of land along the border with Mexico, when he came under fire from a massive barrage of automatic weaponry. The man, Richard Kozak, had just chased several drug smugglers off of his property, so there is no question as to who fired the shots. His residence was also completely engulfed in flames (Foote).

Now some may think that the US Government simply has no way to stop these attacks. They would be completely wrong. According to William Grigg, a journalist for The New American, the US government has full knowledge of these attacks. But because it doesn’t fit into their political agenda, they are willing to quietly ignore the attacks. However, there is always a voice of dissent; in this case, the voice is of House Immigration reform Chairman Tom Tancredo, who documented no less than 118 instances of armed Mexican soldiers crossing into the United States in 2003 (Grigg). The magnitude of the problem of Mexican soldiers is of such a proportion that it is nothing short of an invasion. Granted there are no Mexican tanks rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue, and the Mexican flag does not fly over the White House, at least not yet. What is happening is as more and more Mexican nationals move into the South Western United States; they hope to be able to eventually regain all the territory lost in the 1848 Mexican American War.

It is quite likely that what is going on along the border is a slow and calculated campaign designed to drive out the citizens so their land will then be ripe for the taking. Incidents constituting acts of war by the Mexican army go back as far as the 1980s. According to Jack Foote, in 1985, eight-armed Mexican soldiers kidnapped Robert Maupin from San Diego County for reporting the existence of a drug lab on the Mexican side of the border, which he was able to see from the US side of the border. Fortunately Mr. Maupin survived the ordeal (Foote). However with the way things seem to be going on the border, it is simply a matter of time before Americans witness a major bloodbath along the border. Hopefully it will be the cowardly Mexican soldiers, who attack women and children, and not the brave men of groups such as Ranch Rescue, who die in droves in this undeclared border war.

Nothing short of placing the armed forces along the border with Mexico will solve the massive invasion that America is faced with. The border patrol is wholly unsuited for securing the border. According to Tom Steller, a journalist in Arizona, in May of 2002, three-armed Mexican soldiers opened fire on a border patrol agent in Ajo, Arizona (Steller). In another instance, cited by Jon Dougherty, a journalist, on December 4th, 2003, a squadron of armed Mexican soldiers swept across the border into Texas and kidnapped a family of five (Dougherty).

The Mexican army has thus shown that it will disrespect America’s citizens, borders, and those who patrol the borders. Perhaps if A few thousand of America’s finest soldiers along with some heavy tanks were situated along the border, the Mexican army would realize that to cross into the USA would be tantamount to suicide en masse. The idea that America cannot spare a single soldier to protect the border due to the war on terrorism would be the most ludicrous notion ever put forth. Securing our border is paramount to securing our nation.

Already it has become known that Al-Qaeda is seeking to enter into the USA via Mexico. According to Bill Gertz, of the Washington Times, it has become known, that at least fourteen Al-Qaeda fighters were known to be in Mexico actively seeking entry into the United States via the Mexican border (Gertz). That is fourteen terrorists that they know of; it is highly likely there are dozens if not hundreds more who are simply as yet unknown. If America’s politicians truly wanted America to be safe then they would secure her borders, and they would secure them without hesitation.

The truth of the matter is that the majority of the politicians of this nation have already surrendered in the war against Mexico. Yes it is a war, the Mexicans want land that they think belongs to them. The massive influx of Mexican nationals will eventually make the dream of seizing the land into a reality. The land in question is essentially California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and parts of Nevada, Utah, Oregon, and Colorado. The idea of taking this land is commonly referred to as “La Republica Del Norte” (The Republic of the North), or in other instances as “Aztlan”. According to Hector Carreon, a Mexican Supremacist, the phrase Republic of the North was coined by a University of New Mexico professor of Chicano studies, a one, Charles Truxillo.

I guess the real bottom line is what one would do in the event someone (good guys with bad intel and a no knock warrant, or bad guys with bad intel) comes storming through the doors of your "castle".

Personally, I feel anyone who comes storming in gets the lead and a few other goodies. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise. Living in a border town does make one more aware of their surroundings and therefore prepares for such.
