Ok wanting to be a good citizen and do my good deed on national ammo day, I went up to Gander to unload some 'Ganderbux'. Picked up 200 rds .45, 150 rds .38 spl, & 100 rds .357. All of it range ammo. There - civic duty done for the morning.
I already had an ammo bag in the truck with about 200 rds .22, 100 rds .45, & 100 rds .38 spl. I had already packed my Buckmark, SA Mil Spec, & S&W 686 to go to the range. Added a box of .357, and another of both .38 & .45 to the ammo bag and drove up to the range in Burnsville.
The owner of the pistol range up there is an FFL. About a week ago, THR user osg had received payment from me on what should have been a pretty solid user S&W 19-5 w/ a 2 1/2" barrel. From his description and photographs, I was expecting to see a revolver looking like it had done some in the leather time for a professional for several years. It's what I was after actually. It was even coming with a service holster (Accumold).
It was there waiting for me at the range today. It is far, far nicer than I had expected. Beautiful gun. I got into the range and shot it straight away. I love this piece. I am already at least as (if not more) accurate with this little snubby as I am with the 4" 686.
One thing that osg warned me about was that the SA trigger pull was kinda light. He stressed that. So - I checked that out before loading it up. It's clear I need to get it to a scale. If it's 2 lbs, it would surprise me a bit. If it's 1 lb, it wouldn't. I tried to push the hammer forward out of cocked position and couldn't, so somehow, somebody did a _real_ radical trigger job on this thing. It's a bit spooky at first - breaks like a thread of glass. But I got used to it quickly, and once there, it's pretty amazing.
Did I mention how beautiful it is?
