Greetings,

Two questiona:

How many of you here shot an Ishapore with a 308Winchester round instead of a 308Nato?

The IShapore 2A is it certified
for M59 7.62 NATO 50,000 PSI Chamber Pressure
or
M60 7.62 NATO 67,500 PSI Chamber Pressure

Thank you

I shoot my 2A1 with any and all 7.62 Nato and .308. The rounds are interchangeable. As with any mil-surp rifle check for pressure signs. My only issue has been flattened primers with Wolf. I stopped using it...no big deal. The only thing you must avoid is loading hot .308 loads into military 7.62 Nato cases. Other than that I, and MANY others, use both happily. For all practical purposes they are the same round.

i havent just because i have always been able to get 7.62nato cheaper than .308 hunting ammo thats kinda changed though

hurry aim is almost out they probably have 3-4 left if any

Greetings,

I am reading since more than 1 week all around Internet and they say not to shoot .308 into a 7.62NATO.

I can understand when it is a rebarreled model why a higher pressure could be an issue. But the IShapore 2A1 is not a rebarreled. Moreover, I read the blue pill for the IShapore 2A1 was way over 85K.

I did not find any reference to a Kaboom with an Ishapore. Did annyone can find one?

Thank you

No, and you won't find one. One report says they are proofed at up to 100K, but I wouldn't push it. Many pieces of bad information get repeated and repeated and repeated over the internet.

"Only dimensionally."

Well, if that is true, and their pressures are similar (when measured on the same scale), I would say they are interchangeable.

The Ishy is not proofed for 308 pressures, and in fact were given only to home guard units. They're slightly better than Drill & Ceremony quality, but not much. Look at the ring diameter and barrel taper of the 2A and then look at the same on any modern hunting rifle. The Ishy is, IMO, dimensionally marginal and I doubt that the steel used can make up for that difference.

I shot mine only with handloads that I made, using starting loads for 150gr bullets.

Moreover, I read the blue pill for the IShapore 2A1 was way over 85K.
Where did you find this info? I've not been able to find this kind of data.
