I have been using RIMZ moonclips in my 610 and 625 for many years. I recently ordered them for the 986 and there is an issue. The 7th round was almost impossible to install and once done, the loaded clip would seat only 3/4 of the way into the cylinder. I wasn't gonna bang on it to try to seat it...

I emailed RIMZ with some photos and within 5 minutes had an email stating they are aware of an issue. Ten minutes later I was issued a refund. Pretty good service I must say. I emailed some measurement they requested and we shall see if that helps the design to be adjusted.

Disappointed that they don't work but I must give them kudos for their customer service, and I do. It's reassuring to find people who care about their products and customers. I sure do love the RIMZ compared to the metal clips!

I only use Ranch Products metal moonclips and only for the initial carry load. Beyond that, I find them to be a pain trying to quickly shove 7 rounds of .357 into a cylinder. The shorter .45acp and moonclips go very well, beyond that....... not for me.

Denny at RIMZ is a great guy, and his customer service is unmatched.

For range work (not competition or carry purposes), the moonclips generally work exceptionally well. I have been satisfactorily using their 45 clips for years.

If there are problems with the 986 clips, I am certain Denny will work the issue till it is resolved.

What brass did you try? They might work with a different makers brass. The 8-shot 38/357 moonclips are notorious for only working with certain brass.

Thx for the comments. I am sure it will work out. I tried Blazer Brass factory ammo but my reloads are mixed brass. Trying to pick up *only* my brass in that caliber at the range is darn near impossible. I never was one to sort brass by headstamp and hope that doesn't become necessary.

I have an 8 shot S&W 357 cut for clips but I use clips only with revolvers that shoot SA ammo.

I use moonclips for every one of my revolvers that I can. I have only two double action revolver not cut for moonclips, my old Model 10 and my Model 29. Moonclips rule!

Denny is sending me a revised moonclip tomorrow. Can't beat service like that! Hope it works and we'll be all set, once I get another 9...

I ordered some for my 8 shot 929 and they work great. I have a couple makes of the metal clips and none of them are as easy to use as the RIMZ.

Hopefully the revised 986 ones work out as well as the ones for the 929 work.
