with age. Unlike some wines and scotches, the old body doesn't improve with age.
A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky to have my son's fiance (a CNA) volunteer to sit with Childbride, who had ankle replacement and is confined to a bed/recliner for six weeks, so I could participate in our club championship trap shoot.
Started well with a 25/25 and a 23/25. Next, another 23 but I was having a hard time concentrating. Last round was only 21/25 and I was barely holding up. Disappointed and a little worried. Two years back I'd had a stent followed by an aortic valve replacement followed by a pacemaker when the valve job messed up my electrics.
Well, a couple days ago I got a call from my cardiologist. He said they'd gotten a notification from my bedside monitor that I was having atrial fibrillation and flutter. (and it started the night before the shoot). Long story short, I have an ablation scheduled for next Wednesday to shut off the afib. Wife has had two and is doing fine.
She gets her ankle cast off Tuesday and with any luck will be able to get around the day before my procedure.
Then.......we'll see about the cataract, other knee, and whatever cones up.
Now I can say I shoulda won the shoot instead have been third.
Guys, I'm happy to be able to shoot at all.
Maybe put a deer in my new freezer.
Love this place.

Just completed my 78th circuit around the sun. Lots of new parts and a little wait to get shooting again.
Finished third in my club trap league and was in top fifteen shooters in the big clubs league.
Next up, cataract removal. Heal from last weeks ablation. Load next year's shells. Get a load developed for my single shot Henry for late deer season.
It may not get better with age but it is what you make of it.

This fall I had a heart attack just before deer season. I was just getting back to strength after surgery on both shoulders last winter.
