Between black coffee, and shiftn' gears
I am checking my email, and I get this one Flagged as "Priority"; been awhile since I heard from these folks.

Remember you said to never ever pick up and shoot the 28 ga? Especially you said to Never ever let a wife, husband, daughter, son, BF/ GF, even be wary of the dog getting too close to one?

Not my my fault, honest. Really.

Seems hubby gets along with FIL really well, her family hunted, fished, and his wife can hold her own [ read : outdo most guys, showed him up a time or two, or three or...]. Hubby and FIL got to talking about the 28 ga, oh yeah FIL knows all about them 28 ga's , that is HIS pet gauge.

Daughter was busy with College, then Graduate School, Career, then the kids...I guess she forgot to mention to hubby "all" the stuff she still had at the parents house like guns. All this time she and hubby had "aquired" some firearms for "them" , and more specific for "her" - so as to not always be using "his".

Daddy suggested she take some of "her" stuff back home now that she is settled, and they have a nicer house, more secure...Oh and Daddy is gonna to buy them a Gun Safe for their Anniversary/ Housewarming gift.

Wife has quite a few guns. She has THREE 28 gauges alone  Hubby has nary a one. :p She also has a Mec 9000 set up for 28 ga. Hubby has never reloaded shotgun shells.

"Honey, these guns all were fitted to me - they won't fit you". Wife and FIL are grinning and this poor guy has a really sad look on his face. He shouldered the Ruger, the Citori and the 870...dang it, they really don't fit him. :(

MIL to the rescue :p " What is that under your feet < he looks at his feet> no under the sofa there?"

Sitting in That Room as it was always called with the gun safe and reloading stuff and the "ratty old sofa your daddy wont get rid of" - is a Green Box. Hubby retrieves the box and inside is a NIB 870 Wingmaster in ...28 ga. :D

Seems if the hubby doesn't mind if his B-day Gift is about 5 months early. ;)

Wife, head tilt and grin - " Still have more 28 gauges than you do". She says he was too busy putting it together to pay attention. :D

Somehow this is all my fault?

Somewhere is a fellow who used to live here in my state, since moved away, visiting out of state In-laws, and gets a new 28 ga 870, discovers his wife has quite a few guns and gear of her own, including Three 28 ga guns, will take delivery of new gun safe, and I'm responsible?

Best I recall I only let the fellow shoot my Citori with 28 ga bbls for one round of Skeet back when...I don't get it.

<cuts another notch>

It's a darn good thing that I already had several 28 gauge shotguns before I came across Steve in these forums. ;) :D

You Know - I've never met Larry in person, if all goes well supposed to meet him at the Tulsa Show. He has an Itch for a 28 ga.

"Hello My name is Steve, I'll be your personal Shopper today. Now shoulder this here 28 ga.Larry. This here MEC is single stage and this 9000 is Progressive...how much room we got left in your truck...aw heck just mail your clothes back home to yourself. Now the powder, wads, primers, bags of shot will fit now."

I think Sandy would appreciate a 28 ga as well... :uhoh: :p

I'll be sure he posts pics. :D

Steve,

You should know by now-

it's _ALWAYS_ your fault. At least, when it's not mine that is.

lpl/nc 8^)

Gotta figure out where Steve is getting his commission...

I handled that 28 ga 870 at the FNRA deal the other night. Swings and points right nice. I've told Steve before, I have killed hundreds of birds over the last forty years, but I've never shot anything but a 12 ga, not even once.

Hey Steve, do you like pickled red beets? Got more than we can eat (they were Pauline's favorite). We have a boatload left Sandy put up last summer.

I think I finally found my true calling.

I can barter for stuff Salsa, pickles, beets..., piss off the Gubmint even moreso, have a good time "introducing" folks to 28 gauges along with teaching, assisting, doing RKBA , pissing off Ant's...

Then what in the heck I am going to college for? :p

I'll just travel around, be a personal shopper for folks and bunk here and there. Come bird season, I can "assist" with the nuances of the 28 ga.

Since I'm going to be blamed anyway...I can do dat.

Reprobate : Have talents will travel :D

Steve I have been looking forward to meeting you for a long, long time.
BUT! My birthday is the weekend after the gun show. And a 28 ga is NOT on my list. You have had really good ideas before, so I repeat it is NOT on my list. :D

Look - My Second Customer Already!!

Hi Sandy!! :D

*ahem*

How may I assist such a lovely lady on conveying her B-day wish list to others? I am a very big proponent of having wish lists in different price ranges and catagories.

I mean Sandy, you know Larry wants a 28 ga, that is something on his wish list.

Well - speak up willya? ;)

Lets see Larry, wants a 28 ga, Smoke Rizen needs a bullet key ring, Sandy will get back to me...

Hey Chris...you are not immune to all this. Larry and Sandy are Long Distance from me as well - you do realize?

Dave, Smoke, kudu...rest of you folks aren't either.

Reprobate : Have talents will travel :D

<scratches head...come to think of it, I did get into trouble last time I was in Tulsa - Cost a Grandpa but good when I finished up getting his granddaughter fixed up on "something to shoot Skeet with". :p >

Chris

How is MY adopted neice, Camyrn ? You know a 28 ga is really a great first gun from Grandpa!! :neener:

I have driven to PA a number a times remember? What was the name of your favorite Gun store again?

Thinking the Citori might go well with her eyes...

Lee is sure happy I am the scapegoat...hear him in the background cheering me on?

Hahaha -- well Steve lil' Camryn is doin' pretty good - comin' up to 8 weeks old already!

Fave' Gun Store - bit of a choice really! My local one is Laurel Sport Inc in bedford. Then we have my friend Paul - Hornicks Sporting Goods in Johnstown. We also have Allagheny Trading over in Duncansville - lot of choice really.

Oh the Citori (oh the pain) - damn I really regret selling it. Just gotta suck that up tho - and maybe she'll get a nice lil' .410 one day - like the single shot folder I once had. Not a bad start.

comin' up to 8 weeks old already!
[thread hijack] At 8 weeks, Sadie had her grandpa trained. Varies with child though, the twins are just now figuring out that smiling at grandpa can bring good things, and they are close to four months old. Any new pics of Camryn?[/thread hijack]

Back on topic. I am looking forward to shopping for a 28 ga with Steve, but Tulsa may not be the place. The guns usually are priced at Blue Book (Fjestad will be there). We can look though, and maybe get set up for reloading.

I will own a 28, eventually!

Larry,
You have been to Tulsa before, I have not. I visited with a buddy of mine today that used to attend Tulsa all the time. He said the same thing about gun prices " may NOT be the place, then again "sometimes" one gets real lucky".

He suggested I be my "normal self" , sometimes a fella has an itch for something and well, he might just need the cash flow to scratch it...dats where I just kinda happpen to show up. :p

Now the books, parts, holsters and all - is something suggested I pay atteniton to. I'm waiting to see if a request for some 1911 parts is sent with me.

One other note. Finding the OLD 870s, are getting more difficult. One has to weigh the OLD metallury, wood, metal and such - priced as they may be versus the new 870s and the price one pays. Same price for both - I'd be prone to buy the Older used one than the new one.

Say for instance a 28 " fixed choke Modified bbl, 870 in 28 ga.." well that old thang ain't got chokes, I dunno how much use a fella is gonna get out something so "limited" as that". < walk away, price is reduced some more>

Pay the man and run like hell. That is how my friend defines Steve's "normal self". :D

I did mention my mentors and elders passed forward other stuff besides shooting - didn't I ? Not to mention a former life and the folks I worked for. :p

" I dunno, them old Colt mag catches/ releases are a bit "tiny" compared to todays stuff, and it is blue you know...just going on a "old beater"...sigh...yeah okay, I'll take it. ;)

Larry - <severe hijack> small pic from 3 days ago - what folks can't see of course, is her Dad's GP-100, under the covers! LOL </severe hijack> :p :D

See, I told ya !!

Citori in 28 ga goes with them eyes! :D

Yep she is a cutie all right. Sitting there dreaming about shotguns, 28 ga's, shooting with Chris...can't wait for Uncle Steve to show her how to shoot... ;)

She's adorable, Chris. :)

{/ astounded that I wrote that phrase here about a person instead of about a firearm, but I'm OK with that -- it's true}

Why thank you Bob - I'd pass that on to my son but he already has so much pride oozing from every pore, I doubt he could handle any more!! :D

I am treading thin ice posting the pic anyways but heck - as long as folks realize she is concealing (very well) Dad's GP-100 from view, we should get by! :p

Chris-

Don't worry about the Pic , this is my thread so what I say goes- right? :D

Poor Moderator Chris, thank goodness folks like me are around to keep 'em straight. Like to have never got that boy trained...

Camryn, don't you worry - Uncle Steve will make sure you get a 28 ga - Still think the Citori goes well with them eyes.

Yep - I be the uncle they warn you about. :p
