I have seen alot of these float around on Gunbroker with pretty low price tags. I know they are not to be used with standard pressure Carcano ammo and all.
However, I recall that the early model Carcano rifle had progressive rifling (gain twist). Since these Vetterli rifles were converted around the same time that these Carcanos were produced, does it mean that they have progressive rifling as well?
If so, it sounds like a M1870/87/15 would be a very interesting and accurate plinker if loaded up with some cast bullets and some Trail Boss.
