20 Guage Probably the model from the late 1920s, Saw handled walnut pistol grip (legally registered)

Does anybody know the value of one of these? Also need information regarding its legal transfer as an AOW and the cost of the tax stamp. At one time, I seem to remember that it was considerably less than the $200 tax stamp for machine guns and silencers. One confusing bit I ran across was that it is an NFA item but also has Curio and Relic status.
Any information appreciated.

They have been been reclassifed as C&R guns but still fall under the NFA tax regulations as an AOW.

A previously regestered gun is transferable on a form-4 and a $5.00 tax is charged.

Value of those things is hard to say with any certainty.

very useful information. It appears that a c&r licensee can transfer them for five dollars and i suppose all others have to pay the $200???. The other links give a usable ballpark value range

No, it is $5.00 for ATF tax stamp & re-registration on a Form-4, regardless of who transfers it.
It is an AOW (Smooth-bore pistol - shotgun under 18" barrel & 26" oal)

But I am far from an expert on any of this, so I suggest you get the Form-4 from the ATF, and follow the regs exactly.

that seems to be the preponderance of what I am hearing. Almost too good to be true but it appears you can be the proud owner of such a cheerful instrument for minimal outlay and agrevation

You are saying it has already been registered by the previous owner and you want to transfer it , right?

It's currently registered. I'm not trying to buy it -just needed to learn the drill for tranfer in case I write about it. I followed a link to the BATF regs and it confirms that an AOw requires the usual application and a five dollar transfer tax stamp. I had read that before but was refreshing my memory - in case my memory was wrong which it sometimes is.
