Help!

I just bought my 3rd Ithaca M37 at one of the local pawn shops. When I tested the slide on the weapon, the barrel kept falling off. After further inspection, I noticed the flange on the end of the barrel was bent outward. I believed that this barrel was beyond repair ( My gunsmith confirmed this later) and so I offered $100 for the receiver, tubular mag, and factory pistol grip stock....SOLD! So I called Ithaca guns USA to order a replacement barrel. While they confirmed that the serial #on the receiver was within the range of the barrels they manufacture, the individual stated that they are extremely backlogged and also moving to a new facility. He then stated that he did not know when they would be back in product of replacement barrels. He said it could be as long as six months to a year! Can anyone help me with another source for a DSPS barrel? It needs to be compatible with the extended factory tubular magazine. I checked e-bay with no luck. Thanks, 66912

They show up on ebay every so-often, and usually go for hellacious prices. $200 is not uncommon!

Numrich has a hekuva deal on nickel (or hard-chrome) 8-shot M&P barrels, which will work fine for your gun. IIRC, they're about $90, brand new. Even if you paid to have the finish stripped, and reblue the bbl, you'd be ahead of ebay prices.

**and by "flange on the bbl", do you mean the bbl lug itself? If so, I'd wager a guess that Les Hovencamp (www.diamondgunsmithing.com) could fix that right up for you.**

Thanks for the info. guys. BlackTalon, you think the e-bay prices are inflated, you should speak with the guys over at Ithaca USA. Their prices to manufacture a new barrel exceed the cost of a complete DSPS (One without historical value). I like dealing with Numerich so I will look them up. The pawnshop owner said he tossed the barrel so fixing it is no longer an option. I like the fact that Ithaca was somewhat reborn, I just assumed by their website that I would be able to get what I needed quickly. I know I just have to keep looking and eventually this project will be complete.

UPDATE: New barrel, Blued, on the way from Numerich for $108. Done deal, thanks again!
