First, I am new to the board. I have done some lurking and it seems pretty cool.

Well, I just bought an Ithaca M-49, .22 "mini" rifle for my little guy. It has a lever type action which I believe is a marini or martini action (something like that) and is a single shot.

I am looking for an owners / disassembly instruction manual so I can take it down and clean it. I am also looking for any and all info I can find out about this. As in years made or possible age info., value and other in general info. and comments.

Any help would be great.

wonderful history behind that rifle. the father who started the business, designs, of that lever action, continued on to his son, who then designed that lever action, with some tweeking , for Henry lever actions. you should read up on it. quite a nice little rifle at that, don't remember if Ithaca ever made that into a repeater, though.

I saw a young fellow (about 13-15) shooting one of those single shot the last time I was at the range. He was with his grandfather, who told me he was 64, and that his father had given him the rifle when he was a boy. That might give you some idea how old they are.

I do know that they were being made when I was a teenager, and I'm 55. I remember seeing one in a Sears Roebuck store and thinking "Gee, I'd like to have one of those." I had a 20 Ga Ithaca SuperSingle lever action shotgun and thought the Model 49 would be a good match.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping to find info on getting a manual for disassembly. I guess I will start searching for a local gunsmith who can show me.
