I just purchased an Ithaca Model 51 semi auto from a Forum member, and would like to learn about this model. I already know about the plastic part that holds the bolt, and its weakness, and will look for a couple spares. Has anybody here owned one or had experience with one?

Ithaca 51

Great swinging, balanced guns, like all Ithacas. . .
Shot one with a guy one time, was a real pleasure to handle
only one problem, when he was shooting ONE TIME he pulled the trigger and it shot twice, full auto, my first reaction, HOLY ****~!!!~, my second reaction, how much for the Ithaca???
Anyhow, he was an inexperienced shooter and maybe he pulled the trigger twice really really fast. .. . who knows
But I have heard of other autoloading shottys going full auto, or doing 2-3 round bursts, ussually A-5's
Thats all I know, it never would give us a repeat performance the rest of that day. . .

my dad still has an old Ithaca Model 37 featherlight pump gun.... I killed my first deer with it.... still shoots like a dream...

I am actually going to try and get it re-blued for him, and fix the pump action to make it smoother....its old though:)
