My wife bought me an Ithaca SKB MODEL 200 double barrel 12 gauge for Christmas. I will be using it in cowboy action shooting. First time I shot it I noticed a problem. The right barrel discharges correctly left barrel is hard to fire. You must jiggle the trigger to fire it. It is a beautiful gun it I'm concerned about reliability. Has anyone got any history

What do you mean by jiggle? Are you trapping the trigger on the first shot? Has it been thoroughly cleaned and relubed? Has someone else tried firing it to rule out something you might be doing subconsciously?

a trip to a gun smith is in order. the skb doubles are very well made and hold up well with out much care. be sure to keep the butt stock screw tight(any two pieced stock), loose butt stock screws i think cause 90 percent of the split stocks on them. eastbank.

The trigger has to return to the forward position after the 1st shot. Hoppe's #9 makes green crud around the gold colored trigger. Spray on both sides of the trigger with WD 40 , see if it makes a difference.

They originally came with inertial triggers. A lot of the cowboy action crowd are having them converted to mechanical triggers and chopping off the barrels. They are a fine gun. Enjoy. If you haven't already, go to sassnet.com/forums for a lot of info on them.

Spraying WD-40 into the trigger group will make a difference, it will gum the trigger and sear up so nothing works. The WD stands for Water Displacement not lubricant.
