It's a beautiful thing when someone looses their PING! virginity.

One of my oldest friends, not a gun owner or a shooter, wanted to shoot the old warhorse, my M1 Garand. Well we got out to the Hap Baker range in Maryland and he lost his PING! virginity. So what does one invariably say once they go all the way with a Garand.........."I have got to get me one of these!!!" :D

I gotta tell you it does the heart good. Here are a few pictures from the range. I gave him some evil black rifle time as well but of course there really is no comparison to a good ole' Garand.

He had a blast I had a blast, a good time was had by all. Heck the RO had a blast playing with our HK USC with KOBRA and M3 magazine conversion.

Chris

If you look close you will see one of those big ole' .30-06 cases flying forward. You will also notice his supporting hand staying far far away from that op rod. I warned him about that and Garand thumb by saying if you do it you will only do it once.

Ditto what Bart said, but there's two other reasons.....apparently it dampens the sound a bit, and the INNER box keeps the outer box from catching on fire whenm somebody shoots a black powder rifle. Usually they remove the inner box for you....strange.

What kind of holster did he use for the AR?

No kidding!
He looks like a big guy. My uncle Woody was the same way. He was about 6'5" and almost 280. My dad said he looked rediculous using a little Italian Carcano carbine to hunt. :D

Anyhow, the gun had never shot any black rifles?
I am glad you introduced him.

Very cool.....I know what you mean about the Garand ping....I was out at Hap Baker after getting my CMP Garand and was all of the way down on lane 1 with no one paying particular attention to me. After the first clip was done and it pinged out I all of a sudden had several new friends:cool:

Your buddy must be in the 6'5" range or so.....I'm 6'7" and make guns look like that when I hold them.

Talking about that PING reminds me of this one time I had my Garand out on the range- I emptied it and PING and this lady over on the next bench, ot her husband, said "something just flew off of his gun." I know I'm not the only one who's had that happen either.
