It's always good to practice practical redundancy and have a fallback plan, even with target shooting.....

I wanted to get into long-range/high power target shooting (on a budget), so I traded one of my spare handguns for a Savage 111 .30-06, upgraded the packaged crappy Simmons Blazer scope to a nice used Bushnell Trophy 3-9X, and put on a Shooter's Ridge 9-13" bipod

I never realized how expensive .30-06 ammo was, so that plan has been put on temporary hold, I still shoot it to keep my skillset up, but nowhere near as much as I'd want to

So, I fell back on .22LR in my Savage Mark IIG with Bushnell Banner 3-9X, great, dead-accurate tackdriver of a gun, real pleasure to shoot, but in my area, there's still a .22LR shortage, not even my local Wally-worlds have bulk ammo for Og's sake, thankfully, I've got a decent backstock of .22LR, but due to the difficulty in replacing that, I've cut back on .22LR too....

Thankfully, I have a Crosman RM-522 springer .22 air rifle, and about 2,000 rounds of various .22 pellets, so I can still get trigger time in, and, more importantly, have had no problem finding replacement tins of pellets, no it's not a firearm, and it's manual of arms is slightly different than a powder-burner, but it's *still* a shoulder-fired projectile weapon, and keeps my sight picture and trigger finger discipline sharp, it's also dead-silent and I can shoot out in my back yard without disturbing anyone

I don't feel as bad rationing my .22LR now, as I can still enjoy sport shooting without depleting <Gollum> My Precious</Gollum> ammo supplies

it's funny, out of all my ammo, .22, .45ACP, 12-gauge, and .30-06, the one type of ammo I *don't* feel guilty about using is my .45ACP, gotta love reloading equipment....

...now, to get some reloading stuff for my .30-06...

Always have a fallback/backup plan, my pellet rifle *is* my fallback practice weapon, I can burn a tin of pellets through that and not feel a single pang of guilt or stabbing pain in my wallet, replacement ammo for the pellet rifle is around $8 to $12 and is still readily available
