Was going to get the kit but for an extra $75 it comes assembled and parkerized.
Only problem is Oregon got hit with a rare for here snow.
I'll throw the chains on and go out tomorrow.
Going to lose the brass but I've a couple 5 gallon buckets of the stuff.
Anyone here shot these?
Came with a 36 round stick mag.
Drums are $30 and more sticks are $15, later.
At 12lbs recoil will not be an issue.
I think it's going to be a ball to shoot.
I've already scrounged up a spare site base and will make a mount for a red dot scope.

The Suomis are one of if not the most accurate SMGs ever made. Think pie plate at 25 meters --and on full auto, no less . Very simple, but very well made. The original receivers were machined from a single gigantic forging, and there are numerous reports of individual Finns annihilating entire Russian advances with their M31s. The mags are among the most reliable hi-cap 9mm sticks ever made, and the drums definitely the most reliable.

Provided you can work around the notorious triggers on the TNW rebuilds (it's not the gun's fault, it's the TNW striker conversion which usually works, but is hardly the best solution) you should be in for a lot of fun. I've got an M31 kit myself that I will reweld before too long (probably gonna go with an AR15 hammer-fired setup, though, for the reasons I mentioned) so I'm more than a bit jealous. Keep an eye out for light primer strikes, I've heard they are sometimes an issue with the TNWs and require playing with striker/buffer spring weights to work out.

Be sure to give us a range report

range report, Suomi M31

Works great!
6 rounds in 3 seconds, off the back deck, then I went back in the house.

Explanation, has not stopped snowing.
Looks like 6-8 inches.
Put chains on and got a couple of miles out but turned around. Oregon BLM land is not the place to be on un-plowed roads.
So I stepped out back and pasted the ground.
No pics.
Would not be much of a picture.

I got one of these about a year ago. It is a hoot to shoot, and turns a lot of heads at the range.
Mine came with about a 27# trigger pull, but the manufacturer was great-I ended up sending the trigger group back to them, they massaged it a bit and it's much better. Still not a target trigger, but very usable.
Has been reliable, shooting several types of factory ammo, and my reloads with no problems using the stick mags.
The one drum I tried didn't feed well, but I haven't tried the others, or tinkered with them at all.
I did pick up a 50r coffin mag, haven't tried that one yet, either.
It's been just too darn cold here to spend much time at the range.

The sticks sometimes have feed lip damage, the drums usually are pretty good unless obviously dented or neglected (feed lips are tougher) but the spring could probably go bad, and I understand the coffin mags were always a bit so-so, but very cool.

Glad to hear you aren't afflicted by light strikes

Not getting out this day. Eight inches or so of snow then topped of with rain-ice last night.
The dogs, 15 pounds, can walk on the crust and not break through.
I left Iowa and Minnesota to get away from this crud.
Got the sling oiled and soft enough to mount on the gun.
No substitute for being able to get out and shoot though.

I'm looking hard at getting one of these. Did you order it directly from TNW and how long did they take to ship?
