The Senate vote is planned for Thursday. Call these Senators along with your own today. Let them know that enforcing the laws already on the books will acomplish their goals better than new laws that are dividing the country. So call these folks.

John McCain (Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Mark Kirk (Ill.), Johnny Isakson (Ga.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Kelly Ayotte (N.H.) Susan Collins (Maine), Pat Toomey (R-Pa)

Call and email today

CALL the Senators and leave a clear concise message. They're just counting the number of people that call and their support for or against.

To find your senators’ phone numbers, call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your senators’ and/or representative’s office.

Remember that telephone calls are usually taken by a staff member, not the member of Congress. Ask to speak with the aide who handles the issue about which you wish to comment.

After identifying yourself, tell the aide you would like to leave a brief message. Don't leave a rambling 2A rant, it won't help and you're just taking up time that more of us can call with a simple "Please tell the Senator that I want him to vote NO on provisions of Senator Reid's bill requiring Universal Background Checks. I don't want legislation requiring me to drive 10 miles and stand around for a half hour just to pay some guy at a gun shop with an FFL to run a background check on someone I've known forever so I can give my grandfather or grandson or uncle my prized rifle/pistol for their birthday!".

I reminded Senator Collins that being on a short list is not always good, and that I knew her intents, as we have spoken before and this will do NOTHING except infringe on the rights of honest Americans.

Hold out for a solution to the real problem, mental illness. Or suffer the vote loss.

Good job. I don't know know how many times I've contacted her, I'll try to get a call in at some point today.

Already contacted Tom Coburn 2 days ago. Gave him some praise over the pork spending. Left him a very clear message about the citizens of this state and the 2A. Hope enough people will do the same to change his mind. Otherwise he'll be looking for a new job. We won't put up with that crap in oklahoma.

I would recommend telling them what course of action you would approve of, in simple terms as well. In my case, this is what I expect them to do in order to represent me:

Join the filibuster, vote against cloture, vote FOR Toomey's pro-gun amendments, and then vote against the bill as a whole, in that precise order.
