Republican Senators who will vote against fillibuster

Among the GOP congressmen set to buck their own leadership on the vote is Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who called a filibuster "incomprehensible." McCain was joined by Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), who told CBS' "This Morning" that the legislation "deserves an vote up or down."

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), who has negotiated background check legislation, has said he would not support an initial filibuster. "Absolutely," his spokesman John Hart replied, when asked if that position still stood. "Eschewing this debate is a 'stupid party' strategy."

Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) announced on Wednesday that he won't back a filibuster, stating that "the discussion needs to be had" on gun legislation.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said it was her "hope" that the Senate "can have a fully open debate, and if that occurs, I will certainly vote to proceed to the bill."

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) offered similar conditions for his support on the first cloture vote.

I believe they were referring to the initial fillibuster that would not let it even be voted on. Many correctly feel that the other politicians should have to go on record as supporting it. This does NOT mean (to my knowledge) that they don't agree with a fillibuster when it comes time to vote (still will need 60 votes to pass) just that every Senator will have to vote and 'mark' themselves.

We are counting on politicians (conservative or not) to vote up or down on a constitutional right. We all know that our politicians have a history of trading votes & voting against the will of constituents in order to keep funding for their next campaign. Trusting politicians as a group is foolish. Nobody thought that AWB would pass last time but it eked by with just enough votes. The senators that support our second amendment are the ones willing & brave enough to filibuster & we should have been demanding of other republicans to support them. If this filibuster is dead, our representatives that were willing to give an inch just gave up the farm. The 15,000 page UBC "compromise" that the public can't read in it's entirety unless or until it passes is without a doubt an egregious assault on our civil right to keep & bear arms. Game over until there is a SCOTUS decision to strike it down, but what is more likely is a chipping away price by price over the next 100 years via SCOTUS decisions, & that even depends on who gets appointed to the SC, if we lose support in SCOTUS by justices passing or retiring, it's game over.
We should have all been demanding of NRA & all repulicans to support this filibuster.

Items that have been released that are attached to this bill are quite onerous & put law abiding gun owners on egg shells, in unreasonable jeopardy of committing a felony.

John Mccain has gone on record to say that there is basically slim to no chance that an awb or mag ban will pass. He seems to think the universal back ground check deal will though as a compromise.
