I've never seen the need to keep my Winchester 12ga 1300 defender by my bedside until now, usually a handgun would do , thank you governor brown for that. So I cleaned up the old 1300 and filled her with 7 rounds of 2 3/4 00 buck and 5 rnds on the stock. I'm not looking for trouble but I'm ready for it.

I had a 1300 years ago. Lots of hate out there for them, but I liked mine- never had any problems with it, anyway. It served HD duty in the closet for several years until my kids were teens and started having friends over. At that point, the long guns were too hard to secure and still be kept handy so they all went back under heavy lock and key while a handgun in a small nightstand safe took over.

I still keep an AR loaded (and appropriately marked as such) just inside my armory door, but things would have to be REALLY hairy before I would need to go retrieve it.

870 with 6 Federal #1 buck in the extended mag and 3 Win Segmented Slugs and 3 more Federal #1 buck in the side-saddle for me... like you, I hope I never have to use it.

Stay safe.
