Both have 2.5 inch barrels. One is blue and one is very shiny. I figured polished nickel. Pinned barrels and firing pin "on the hammer". The shiny one says "Like New" on the tag. Looks "like new" to me. These revolvers and some others were bought at an estate sale. The price on the blue model is ~$315.00 and the shiny, like new is ~$360.00. Good price?? Anybody know if shiny models were produced, or if it's been made to look like that. Also the 2.5 inch barrels--was that standard? Both have the original boxes. What do you think??

Thanks,
Will

I'm no authority, but I just bought a 6" M19 for $265 in very nice shape. I figure it this way- how does it compare to another gun you could get for that much. I don't think $315 goes very far anymore.

The shiny one is probably factory nickel. yes, they did come that way, and the 2 1/2" is a common barrel length for the M19.

In my personal opinion, the M19 and its stainless twin M66 are the best all-around .357 Magnum sixguns ever made.

If they are in LNIB condition, the asking price is not too high. The Standard Catalog of S&W lists the M19 in excellent condition at $325.

I just boought a blue 4" for $315 in 98% or so. A M19-4 or prior is worth a little premium to me over a later gun. Leave the shiny crow bait at the store and take that blue gun home for 325 total, they will likely take $325 out the door for it.

The blued models are a dime a dozen. Get the nickeled model and have a show piece of a fine revolver.

I've owned stainless, blue, and nickel model 19's. I like stainless the best, then blue, then nickel. I'd pay $250 plus tax for blue or nickel in excellent condition. For a blue or nickel that's in like new or mint condition I'd pay $310 plus tax.

Well Bob,

Thanks for the picture. Less the "Tyler T Grip", that's it exactly. I'm beginning to think this is a good deal.
I like stainless, but usually not shiny nickle. However, this revolver has kinda grown on me the past couple of days. I think I can get it for a little less money too. A like new, .357 mag model 19 for probably less than $350.00. I'd have to pay a couple hundred bucks for anything that (barely) would compare.

BigG: Yeah, my "slush fund" can handle it however, in about a month one of the big quartly gun shows comes to the South wing of the fairgrounds. I'm thinking (hoping) I'm going to need some money for that. I've picked up some very nice things from the last two shows. Hummm. Decisions. Plus, there's a special pistol my wife wants...and badly.

Hey guys~take a lesson here. If you buy your wife a new gun every now & then as a little surprise, it makes things *MUUUUCH easier when you come home with a new gun for yourself. Thus concludes the lesson. :)

You have got to pick up one of them, you won't regret it. I had to pay about 350 for mine. No regrets. Mine is a blue one p&r to go with my 6 inch p&r. Looking for the 4 incher. Good luck!!!

Now the decision is a no-brainer. GO BUY YOUR WIFE THE GUN SHE WANTS!!!!!!!! RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! Then the next 3 or 4 or even 5 YOU want are not a big deal. Trust me on this one!!
