I'm in the market for a IWB mag holster. Would love to bring my extra mags with me when carrying. I have 2 extra mags that came with my G23 so I was originally looking at double mag holsters.

But then someone mentioned that the rather large double mag holster can be quite uncomfortable. He suggested to me to get 2 individual mag holsters because they are usually much smaller and can be positioned more comfortably. Definitely made sense and got me thinking.

So just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this is. Especially from owners of both. Pros and cons and such. Because I'm torn between the two, but leaning towards the 2 single mag holsters now.

I acquired some 4" black elastic and sewed it into a tube just large enough to fit over my belt, and also large enough to hold a magazine horizontally. It is OWB, but very low profile. My usual sidearm(s) are enough of a shim IWB.

Singles typically do give you more options when positioning them on your belt. You can avoid belt loops, or spread them out to where you may want for ease of reach or comfort. In some cases, though certainly not all, two singles may take up less space than a double.

Milt Sparks offers IWB pouches http://www.miltsparks.com

D.M. Bullard offers a model that can be worn either IWB or OWB http://store.dmbullardleather.com/dual-carry-mag-holder-

For kydex, Raven Concealment does also http://www.ravenconcealment.com/modular-carriers/ammo-carriers/pistol-mag-carriers

I've often wondered about the advantage of IWB mag holders. It is often uncomfortable enough just wearing a holster IWB, but adding IWB mag pouches seems like too much to me, especially when you are talking about those double column Glock mags.

Certainly, IWB holsters will hide a long barrel that hangs below the bottom of a belt, but most mag carriers will not hang much, if at all, below the bottom of the belt. You'd need a cover garment even for an IWB holster, so anything that would cover your IWB holster would cover your OWB mag holder.

Tuckable mag holders are another thing, but I can't think of any tuckable mag holders.

Thanks for your great response. I think you hit the nail on the head. Going to go with 2 Single pouches. I like the versatility aspect.

And thanks for the links as well. Checking out the products now.
