I'm interested in test-flying an IWB rig for my five-inch 1911. I'm most interested in a tuckable variety and probably one in Kydex if possible...it's humid here in 'Bama and I sweat through my leather OWB rig as it is now!

On a related note, how do you tuckable IWB users carry spare magazines? Do the makers of these holsters make like-styled extra mag pouches?

Thanks, all! :)

I tried several and the best I tried was the Milt Sparks Summer Special 2. But alas, I'm a lazy bum and have resigned myself to the fact that I cannot carry a 1911, at least not a full size 1911.

And for a while when I first started carrying, I would carry two spare mags in a nice leather one piece, two mag carrier I bought used from a local shop. The great majority of the time, I don't carry a spare mag. I'd rather just go for another gun or run the other way. :p

I'm with El Tejon.
My Milt Sparks Executive Companion works very well (often wearing jeans and untucked t-shirt).
But if you have to tuck, and have to wear a plastic pistol pouch, then the EC doesn't fit the bill.

So far, everyone has only recommended leather.

Just last week, I got a comp-tac c-tac. It's a kydex IWB, that is the most comfortable holster, I've ever worn.

Mine is for a Colt Combat Commander, and is both comfortable and highly concealable(tuckable).

Check them out at C-TAC

This is a comfortable, firstrate rig. It will cost you about a hundred and take 12 weeks but it is worth it. comes with belt loops or tuckable clips:

I will second that mec! Most comfortable holster I've ever worn.
lightningarms.com probably has one in stock right now.

Here is a picture of the c-tac from comp-tac.

I find mine very comfortable, but then again I've never tried any of the leather holsters mentioned by others.

Try the Blade-Tech UCH. It's a kydex tuckable holster. I have one and use it frequently. I'm still working on an effective way to carry spare ammo. So far, it's a spare mag in a pants pocket, but I'm not wild about it.

I carry my Kimber Classic Custom in a Milt Sparks Watch Six. I actually have a milt sparks watch six, for all three of my conceal carry pistols.

Thank you all for the replies and the pics! Sorry it's taken me a couple of days to get back to the board here...I'm going to probably start with one of the CTAC models but I'm impressed with the Milt Sparks supporters' picks, too!

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

I carry my Springfield 1911A1 in a "Kangaroo" nylon holster sometimes. It is made by a company called Passport and is available for $25. Mine will hold the 1911, with two spare mags in the pouch. They are very difficult to get to IWB, though.

I find a 1911 to be too big any more for IWB.

Not kydex, but I've been 100% satisfied with my DeSantis "Inner Piece", so much so that I'm selling off my only Officer's Size 1911...

I use a Milt Sparks Summer Special, but that is for my Officer's Model. I have lately been carrying a full sized Government Model in a regular belt holster (Dillion) and an Hawaiian Shirt. I just moved the holster around my right hip. It doesn't look obvious to me, but then I never asked around if anyone can see my gun.

My new Colt Stainless 1991A1 is now riding in a new Desantis Inner Piece IWB rig. Carry's very nicely, and very comfortable.

Would you all recommend leather or kydex/polymer for daily use? It seems like leather would have the ability to break in a mold a bit to the individual whereas Kydex may not. What do I know though. I am following this thread with some interest in the hopes that Ohio's senate also passes out CCW bill with a veto proof margin and I will be able to carry my SIG P220. Basically a Colt Commander with rounded edges in terms of size. I could really be a beast and try to pack the PO P14 Ltd.

My Glock I carry in a Fobus (polymer) holster. Fo r the 1911 I like Leather. My revovlers are also carried in leather.
