James Earl Jones on Guns...

highly educated man

Mr. Jones is a highly educated and intelligent man. It shows in his manner of speech, vocabulary and ideology.

As an aside, when I lived in Virginia Beach, the rock station there (WNOR) would contact celebs to parody their own work for the morning show (tommy and Rumble). This was at the height of the "ebonics" craze and Mr. Jones jumped at the chance to ridicule it. He did the Darth Vader lines from the first movie about the emporer visiting the incomplete Death Star in ebonics. Hillarious! And every news segment ended with "Dis be CNN".

I would, without missing a beat, trade every firearm I own for a working lightsaber. :D

A now closed shop here in Cali (Duarte, I believe) has a pic of Jones with the owner. Owner asked me to guess how many guns Jones had, so I figured it was some insane number and said, "Five hundred." I don't remember how many the owner said Jones had, but IIRC, it was in the thousands. Definitely an avid gun collector. Gun safe? Try Gun Room. :D

I posted about this before, but figured I'd mention it again. . .

There was a gunshop in Duarte, California called "Belleau Wood" I used to go to before they closed down. A friend and I were talking to the owner one day while shopping and he shows me a photograph. I take a look and it's James Earl Jones holding a beautiful M1 Garand in one hand and shaking the shop owner's hand with the other. They were both smiling for the camera and in the background was a rack full of rifles (the picture was obviously taken in the same shop).

Displaying my usual wit, I exclaimed something stupid like "Hey! That's Darth Vader!" The rest of the guys in the shop (it was a small shop) all overhead and got a chuckle out of it. The shopowner then asked "How many guns do you think he owns?" I figured it must be a lot but couldn't hazard a guess and he continues "Whatever you were gonna say, add a 'zero' to the number. He has (deleted*) thousand guns! :what: "

* When he said the number, it blew my mind so badly that my simple little brain couldn't record it properly. It was several thousand, but less than ten thousand. I can't rightly remember.

He has long been an outspoken advocate of the RKBA.

Thank God! I'd be worried if someone with that many guns didn't believe in RKBA for all.

Errrr. . . when I started typing, BamBam-31 hadn't yet posted this. Obviously, he was with me at the time of the discussion.

I wonder how Jones felt about all the hacked up milsurps in the Star Wars trilogy. . .

Nothing could replace the light saber except...

The beautifully crafted 1911!

Even the emporer wouldn't stand the thought of disrespecting the holiness of the 1911! Darth vader would have taken one look at that masterpiece and declared, "Obi Wan has taught you well!"

A 1911 on Tatooine? Can we say jam-o-matic? :neener:
