I have this rifle but don't know what it is, It has the mum on it and it was made nagoya arsenal, There is a mark in front of the ser. no.it look like a j with a curved mark on the top, And in the middle of the j it has a straight line thow it,The ser.no. 45852 , Can anyone tell what it is Think you Jerry

pictures help. is it about .30 caliber (such as a type 99) or less? (such as a type 38).

not sure but the MUM could make it a very rare rifle. they ground them off after the war.
so i dnt think their are very many around with the Mum. but i could be wrong

husker - not all mums were ground off. Some were just defaced. My dad has one that just has a strike through the mum instead of having it ground off. An intact mum isn't exactly common though.

I don't think most of the Arisaka variants count as "rare", with or without an intact mum.

Jerry, google for Arisaka arsenal markings, you'll find plenty of pictures. You've got either a type 99 or 38 as otomik said.

I did find out that it was the 8th series, And there is no grove down the sides of the stock Think you Jerry B
