Jessie Jackson to lead nationwide gun protest

I sent a message to the person on the press release looking for a schedule of cities so I could ensure that I was there to support the cause. I suggest we stage a counter-protest. Whatcha think?

Keep us updated when or if they send you that list. I would definitely show up for a counter-protest if one is around me.

A buy-a-gun, or at least buy-something-from-shop-being-protested day is a great idea.

I personally prefer the idea old John Birch (Illinois Concealed Carry) proposed a couple of years ago.

Have every FFL in Illinois promise Jesse Jackson, that if he will co-sign a "First Step Cease Fire" agreement with them, that they will no longer sell any firearms to any African-American or Latino in Illinois, regardless of whether they have a FOID card, or whether they live outside Cook County and Chicago.

After all, based on his claims, it's only "common sense"?

I'd personally start the stop watch to see how long it took the Chicago branch of the ACLU to get into court.

The rest of the story...

The local coverage of the Jesse/Pflager arrest, revealed that there was shoving and that Jessie attempted to have the owner of Chucks' arrested for assault. Jesse and co. blocked the door to the shop which was filled with right minded supporters of the 2nd Amm. The crowd outside was trying to get in and at the door Jesse and co. were asked to leave and when they refused the police were asked to arrest them and did. Jesse was jostled and claimed that was assault, the police didn't concur. I hope the jostler had sharp elbows. I agree that no side arms should be included as the opposition will do anything to promote gun violence to promote their anti gun agenda. They wish to paint the guns as bad while the killers are coddled and "forgiven".
It's the classic refusal of responsibility and I feel anyone capable of this mindset is capable of suicide by someone else's gun. Perhaps I'm paranoid but I do live in Cook County Illinois and I must be.

Who's he working for on this? Is it just that the mantle has fallen to him by default to keep the mime allive on the fringes of the Democratic tent? I lost any respect for the man when his personal fidelity issues were brought to light a few years back--and I don't think I was the only one. Ever since then, he just seems a bad caricature of himself to me. I never agreed with his politcs, but I just don't suffer myself to even listen to what he has to say any more.

on the fringes of the Democratic tent

Would that this were true. Senior and ranking members of both houses of Congress on the "D" side are right there with him. The Speaker of the House can't be written off as the "fringe of the Party".

Fascinating. I couldn't care less about that stuff, because what he did and said before that deserved no respect.

He was standing around on stage during the Civil Rights Movement, and he's been cashing in on trying to keep us locked in the same place for 40 years.

I don't agree with everything (well, almost nothing) the man says, but I will defend his right to put his foot in his mouth. I have always found that a closed mouth gathers no foot.

+1 on the counter protest, and no carrying of firearms. All it takes is one hot-head (on either side) and things potentially get very ugly.

Also +1 on the point that if you don't purchase a firearm, get some ammunition, cleaning supplies, a new range bag, some eye/ear protection.

I have been eyeing an item at my local purveyor of fine firearms, and I think I can hold off until 28 August to consumate the purchase.

As my Grandfather used to say: You can lead a horse to water, but if you can get him to float on his back...You've got something.

Jesse is out for Jesse

Jesse protested NASCAR a few years back . they cut him a check and he went away . I think another poster hit it the nail on the head , The Rainbow push / Jesse's new mistress , needs some cash .

“Our marching does not kill people; people who buy guns from gun shops kill people,” Rev. Jackson said.
Any way we could put together some sort of class action slander suit?

And THAT is why Stock Car Racing ain't what it used to be.

I think the France family should have taken that money, and then some, to do ads emphasizing Jesse Jackson's let's say, less admirable statements and qualities. It would be easy enough. Blackmailers who get paid off just go and blackmail again.

What are they afraid of? Losing their African-American left-wing viewer demographic?

"Our marching does not kill people; people who buy guns from gun shops kill people."

And all this time I thought criminals got their guns from a black market or from family members....
Gunshops have FFLs and must conduct NICS checks to assure it isn't a criminal who buys the gun ~~ but I see jpk1md has already made my point.

Jesse's whole modus opperandi much like many big city politicians is

1. No one is responsible for anything they do especially crimminals who are victims of a racist society which denies them opportunities so they are forced into a life of crime.

2. Weapons are responsible for violence, not the victims of society mentioned in point one.

3. The Government exists to think for the folks in section one and to provide for them so they dont have to do any hard work.

Jesse is an idiot, a racist, and a hypocrit.

In my wiseass fashion, I would argue his attempts to expand the welfare state and generational welfare along with banning self-defense is nothing less than attempting to re-institue slavery for those who he claims to support.

May the ghosts of actual civil rights leaders haunt him without mercy.

"...people who buy guns from gun shops kill people,” Rev. Jackson said.

I know dozens of people who buy guns from gun shops and who
have not killed anyone. Our most prolific hometown murderer
killed a woman with a knife and two men with a baseball bat.
People who kill people often do not buy guns from gunshops.
And to think that years ago I respected Jesse Jackson.

Two Knoxville cops interviewed about proposed gun law changes
pointed out that one in five criminals they encountered owned
guns and of those who had guns, 80% got them black market.
Most legal purchases were by family members. Lay that stat
out as a matrix with C for criminal without gun, B for criminal with
Black Market gun, and L for criminal with Legal gun, you get:
C C C C B
C C C C B
C C C C B
C C C C B
C C C C L
Guns are not the crime problem, criminals are. And crusaders
who make lame proposals.

ArmedBear-in agreement here. What I was getting at is that he's running his mouth about it openly right now when (most) of the Dems are keeping a relative lock on the topic as taboo. I don't have any illusions that their goals have changed overall.

As for his character, it counts in that I can tollerate people of different political views if they are at least loyal to their faith and their spouses / families. And such behavior in a preacher; 'If gold should rust, what is iron to do?'. I never agreed with the guys politics and tactics, but now he's just one of 'those people'--the ones who are disloyal.

I don't think running an extortion racket is any more worthy of a "minister" than cheating on one's wife.

That's what he's been doing for quite some time: threaten a business with bad publicity, and collect a "donation" from them.

Not particularly Christian, no matter what one's politics, IMO, if you're going to know them by their fruits and all.

I confess I haven't read the post simply because Jackson is little more than an attention whore and shake down artist (not sure in which order or if they are equal).

The cruelest thing to respond to him with is apathy.

Buy a gun day, anyone?
Sounds like a plan to me. I'll call mine "Lil' Jesse" or maybe "J.J.", whatever it is that I now MUST and WILL buy this August 28. (I don't name my firearms per se, but I think I'll listen to the voices in my head this time.) I seriously doubt if my planned purchase will ever kill anything other than empty soda cans, water filled milk jugs or pieces of paper.
Note to self. Begin saving now for that purchase.
