Johnson Spitfire barrel

Besides Numrich (Numbnuts), who else has a 22 Johnson Spitfire barrel for the M-1 Carbine? I'm getting a used IMI Carbine and since it's non-GI, it's going to be converted to that itty bitty wildcat. I also intend to dress it up with that Scout Scope mount that Sven helped me aquire.

BTW, anyone know any gunsmith who has the reamer and the go & no-go gauges for converting it?

Reamer rental can be iffy...

Best bet is to call Clymer or one of the other reamer companies (JGS is good), buy them and trade em to your gunsmith for the rebarrel and chamber job....

Hey and we even have the action wrenches ;)

You're gonna love that UltiMak scout mount. I missed the group buy and had to pay the full $90. I mounted it myself -- works great. I used it in the Louis Awerbuck tactical carbine/pistol class. It is very quick and accurate.

I had two 5.7 Carbines.
Lost the original Johnson in a fire.
I still have the one I rebarreled.

It's a fun round.
3000 fps with a 40gr Hornet bullet.

Also makes a good M2.

The problem is getting ammo/brass.
I used to neck down 30 Carbine brass, but what a pain.
Where are you going to get ammo?

I also lost all my ammo/brass in the fire and haven't formed any since.

Get Fulton Armory to do it

IIRC, Fulton Armory recently started doing the .22Carbine conversions. I think they use the Numrich bbl., but they would stand behind the job, so I think it's better to go that route. That way no potential QC issues with the Numrich barrel, as Fulton would be pre-screening it for you.

I've considered this myself, but don't have the $$ or the extra carbine right now.

ALSO: I also like the UltiMak mount. I'd be using it in the upcoming Awerbuck class myself, but I think I need to sit this one out (layed off, down to one job at the moment).
