José Ortega y Gasset - Meditations on Hunting

I’ve been wanting to read this book since Jeff Cooper recommended it in his column in G&A in the early ‘90s, but I have never been able to find it. Has any hunting/shooting publishing house ever reprinted this? I’d think there’s a market for it, judging by the price of old editions on Amazon.

Highly recommended, I believe I gave away my copy in the last year when thinning out the bookshelves. It was actually an introduction to a hunting book by a Spanish aristocrat.

When I was in college in mid ‘70’s, Gasset was a required reading in a Wildlife management course I took. It, and Aldo Leopolds books turned an avowed anti-hunter into a professional wildlife manager who went on to be the natural resources commissioner of a populous eastern state. (NOT me, btw).

But, I also loved Ed McManus book “To hell with HUNTING”!
My favorite line was a parody of Gasset.
McManus postulated that the smartest quail that ever lived had an IQ of 2, and was killed by a “Mongaloid Idiot” with a sling-shot... so much for the intellectual aspects of hunting...
Ed was a long time humor writer/editor for “Field and Stream”.
