I read them both and loved them. I came about them through the Baen site so I was unaware that Mr. Correia was a "gun nut" or posted here until after I bought them. I never connected "We're from HK. And we hate you." with MHI's author.

I was overjoyed to read a book by an author that clearly knew what he was talking about when it came to firearms. I am eagerly looking forward to future Monster Hunter books as well as his new "fantasy noir" series.

Great to hear about MHI #2!! I, too, will wait for the paper version (yeah, I'm old - hey, can I get it in SENIOR print? :p)

Glock22, that's kind of a long story. Rather than just putting up another serial on THR, we decided to clean it up and actually publish a book. The thread that was Welcome Back Mr. Nightcrawler has tripled in size and complexity and is now a book called Dead Six. There are two sequels, Swords of Exodus and Project Blue. D6 is pretty much done (Mike going and becoming an EOD tech kind of screwed with our schedule). When I've got an ETA for the book I'll bring up the old thread and stick that on there.

Read the "Dead Six" serial on THR and have been waiting for the book! Glad to hear its closer to becoming a reality. Best stories I've read since I discovered H. Beam Piper. I'll be first in line at the bookstore...

Cool. Thanks guys.

Okay, you will get a kick out of this. I've just been asked to collaborate with John Ringo to write a new sci-fi series. No details yet, but that's a definate career boost. :)

And if you're interested, the first book of my next series The Grimnoir Chronicles, has just been posted on Amazon. The title is Hard Magic. Think of it as an alternative history/fantasy/hard boiled/noir/pulp/action-adventure. It takes place in 1932, in an alternative world where magic appeared in the 1850s.

To make this THR specific, I have a secret society led by Black Jack Pershing and John Moses Browning. :)

That is a big honor, Ringo is one of the BIG guns in Sci Fi nowadays for those of you that don't know, and to be asked to write with him is huge. Congratulations are in order. Good luck on it. Just don't forget us little folks when you get all rich and famous. :D

Ringo got me back into Sci Fi after I had gotten away from it in my 20s. That was a couple of years ago, and it was through Baen's web sight that I found MHI 1 so he's already helped your career somewhat, and is about to do it again. I say again congratulations.

Mr. Correia,

Read MHI last year. Have already pre-ordered the new book via Amazon. I did so several weeks ago.

I love books that are written by people who actually know about the guns that they use in the book. Refreshing subject, as well. Too many sci-fy writers are into BEMs from across the Galaxy, and require super-advanced weaponry to deal with them.

Educate me please.

OK. I'm lost on this. I love scfi but was taken by surprise when it appeared on a firearms forum. It sounds interesting and would like to learn a little more, also how it's tired into THR.
Thanks in advance.

PM me if you wish.:D

Cool!

Actually, waited for this title to be released since I finished the MHI when it was originally published. Larry, thanks!

crossrhodes,

Okay, short version. I'm a novelist with Baen Books. I've got one out, two scheduled to come out shortly, another one under contract that I'm still writing, and I've just been asked to do a new series collaborating with John Ringo. My first book was a hit, bestseller, and went through four printings in a year. So you can say that I'm actually a relatively succesful novelist.

But I got my writing start here on THR. :)

I wrote a book inspired by an old thread on TFL called Lines I'd Like to Hear In a Horror Movie Someday. It got rejected everywhere, so I decided to self publish it. In order to advertise it, I jumped in and participated with Nightcrawler on this online serial mega-thread.

That went over really well, and I sold a ton of self published books. (many to THR posters). Then I got a real publishing contract, and have been doing pretty well ever since.

And even that above thread has since been turned in to a novel, but I've not sold it to a publisher yet.

Here's a link to samples of my stuff: http://larrycorreia.wordpress.com/online-fiction/

Thanks Correia, That's cool and thanks for the links, I'm going to share this with my daughter since she just got a double major in English with one in creative writing. She's a SyFy nut too and I'm sure she'll enjoy it.

Best of luck.

MHI was a freakin great book. I can wait one more month for the sequel though. If it was a six month wait then this offer would be pretty tempting.

I'm thinking about getting a Kindle, any chance the sequel is going to be available on that? I guess I can get the e-reader version and upload it to the kindle, but it would be sweet to be able to buy it on there.

About a chapter or two from finishing MHI, devoured it in about a week and a half...really great read, thanks for sharing with the world!

Just buy it from the Baen website, and choose the Kindle version. The work fine on my Kindle. I get all the functionality out of those .mobi files as I do out of the Amazon supplied .mobi files. If you ever have to buy any other format because Kindle doesn't sell a title there are a ton of applications out there to convert from nearly any text file to .mobi so enjoy. So don't sweat it, and give the company that supports gun guys entertainment the money directly :)

And enjoy your Kindle I am addicted to mine, and LOVE it. I never leave home without it.

BTW - since we're nearly to September, what is the exact release date please?

Thanks

MHV

I hadn't heard of the book until one of the THR and another favorite forum of mine, emailed and described it. Since silly monster genre movies and shooting/hunting are big interests of mine...I MUST get this!!!

Many thanks again!
