"Noisey Cricket" for my small Taurus 651 .357 snubby.
"Karens gun" for my wifes.
No other names yet.
wife used to ask "Honey, did you bring the grocery list?" If we where out in public and she felt uncomfortable in a situation. (I NEVER grocery shop). It was our code word for ARE YOU ARMED? Now if she asked it it's because she just went into condition orange or above, but she know's i'm armed.
I name everything I own, usually after a cool character from a book I've recently read.
Having said that, I just got my first gun--a 9mm. 1911--and named it Narsil. Yeah, just finished The Silmarillion. Still trying to think of something for the black-powder rifle my dad (also recently) gave me.
SWMBO's first handgun from me: A Ruger Spped-six is "Snubby", how original!
Her next, a Ruger SP-101 DAO: "Lil Bob" (bobbed hammer)
My Beretta 21 .25ACP: "Pietro"
Only use the names in semi-public, As in " Lil Bob coming along?" Meaning is she armed?
"Snubby" the tank doesn't get carried except to the range. Have several lighter handguns. Heck, my 870 might be lighter! And snubby's a .38!
We also occassionally use the old local Sheriff Dept "Code 40" meaning subject with a gun. As in dismounting the vehicle to go shopping or dining: "You Code 40?" "Of course!" We've both had our CCW's for several years.
Let's discuss why guys name their guns female names. Any theories? Is it because giving it a male name would subconsciously be like having another guy and thus feel competitive?
A friend a long time ago named my 10/22 "sally" because the store clerk who put it on layaway was my sister in law Sally. It never stuck though. I can't bring myself to refer to my guns with people names.
I think I got the idea from full metal jacket when I was a kid when Gunnery Sergeant Hartman says "Tonight, you pukes will sleep with your rifles. You will give your rifle a girl's name because this is the only blank you people are going to get. Your days of blank-blanking ol' Mary J. Rottencrotch through her pertty pink panties are over! You're married to this piece. This weapon of iron and wood. And you will be faithful. Port, hut!" ...kinda had to censor it for the sensitive ears... but you get the idea
Haha, that's what I was thinking...It would be like changing your dog's name after it was familiar with his/her first name. That is just down right mean!
My shotgun is named "Chewey" after my late best friend.
I don't have any other guns, but I do have some names floating around.
"Heartbreaker" if I ever get a dead-accurate rifle.
