Just a Fun Poll:

I completely agree that I've never felt the need to name any of my guns. However...one of them came to me pre-named. I have a 5 in. Ruger Redhawk in .44 Magnum, named Lucille. The name is engraved on the side of the front half of the barrel. It was very nicely done, and not particularly large or flowery, just a nice elegant script. I probably would not have bought it, but we took it in on trade at the gun shop where I was working. It was practically unfired, but everyone who looked at it was put off by the name. The price on it just kept dropping, and dropping, and I ended up getting it for a song. The owner was just tired of looking at it and was glad to be rid of it. Now I'm really glad that I bought it, as it's a great shooter...and as an aside, my father had a sister who died when she was just a child back in the late '20s or early '30s, and her name was Lucille.

well I guess it's not a poll

just wanted to see if anyone thinks like I do and I suppose it's half and half.
when you name something or give it a nickname other than it's designation I believe that shows you value that thing/person... my best friends all go by nicknames we've made up or they've already had through the years, I suppose it's juvenile but I think it makes everything more personal.

I believe firearms have an intrinsic value, they aren't just metal and wood and polymer to me, but friends and potentials to keep me safe and my family.. that's why I name my guns, plus I think some guns are elegant even sexy so that's why I've given mine female names. :)

if you don't feel the same to each his own I surmise. but my question although kinda cheezy was fun and that's all that counts right?

btw if I ever get my kimber (very sexy gun) I'll have to name it kimberly and change my glock's name to something different :D

I've been known to ask my wife if she brought her "pow pow".
Last year, when I got my M1 Garand, I put all the info into a folder. I wrote M1 Garand on the outside.

Two days later my wife handed me the folder and asked..."who is Mr. Garrard?"

Thought I'd crack a rib trying to get back a little control. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
