Just a lil taste of the General Store rifle display

I remember coming home from HS with a friend. We lived on the NH side of the CT river. HS in St.J VT. we stopped at the Case tractor dealer/ auto shop/ gas station/ convience store/ gun store in Passumpsic VT. He had an uzie 45/9mm for sale. The Guy called my friends Father and he OKd it and we left to NH with it. Never heard of 9mm then. Luckily we could find 45 in anyones house. We were 16/17.

I live in NY, on the eastern border of Rutland County, VT. I don't find myself in Proctorsville often but I always made it a point to stop in the Quechee Singleton's location whenever I was headed to NH, or Maine, or Cape Cod. I was very sad to see them close that store. I loved to look at the rifle collection while I waited for a really good deli sandwich. Years later, the place is still empty. I think there was a sign announcing a new occupant would be "opening soon" when I went by last week.

That's so cool! I once knew a bar with the same set up. Iron Mike's Cedar Rapids Ia.

I actually never went into the Quechee Singletons but I think it only lasted a couple few years. I'm not sure what caused them to close it, the people who have run the Original Proctorsville singletons I think have been in the process of phasing themselves out and passing off the responsibility to the kids, and I would guess that maybe the motivation just isn't there.

It's sad that they let the FFL go, they still sell ammo at very marked up prices and it never really was a great place to buy guns, often on the quite high $ side of things. I got a few guns from there, my first long gun came from there, it was a mossberg 12ga. It just sucks because it was the only gun shop in town and I just wasn't happy to see it go. They still have a ton of display firearms and guide gear kind of stuff, but I guess the son's affiliations with the Marijuana business killed the FFL, from what I'm told. A shame.

@desmobob hey, I was a member on JerzeeDevil knife forum and knew a member named Desmodus. She was a moderator and I did business with her once or twice, I remember trading/selling knives and sending em to an Upstate NY address. Any relation to Desmodus of JerzeeDevil forum?
