I am really bored, so I look at 15 or so sights that sell guns for part of my day. I am an internet junkie any way so I can't help myself, lol. I have seen more guns up for sale, in the last couple of weeks that people seem to have bought on impulse purchases, and want to sell. No ryme or reason, most of them seem like normal people. I also notice that they aren't selling as fast, other than "1911's" and because of the inflated prices of the last year or two, many are sitting there for weeks. There seems to be a backup of guns all of a sudden. Ammo is also loosening up in general accross the board. Buds even sent out an email last week saying that the prices of AR's have fallen several hundred dollars and pistols are also down from the highs. It appears that Tactical shotguns are the hot number now, and in more demand than the other two. Is this a cycle that will continue are we seeing the beginning of lower prices on handguns and ammo. Just curious as to others findings. I will say that 1911's are going ballistic and also older revolvers, like colt detective specials Pythons etc are nutso. I was trying to find a mint early detective special in nickel, "I had one stolen from my home in the early 70's" and after several hundred guns, I couldn't find one that was up to my standards, for under 800 dollars. When I say standards I mean not scratched up, fired is ok, but most were either beat up or refinished or scratched trying to buff out the marks, from the pics I saw. And one was $6,500 dollars, what was he thinking. Pythons also, fired pythons for $2,500-4,500, many people are on "lsd" out there. And who tells them to buy guns before the know what the are buying. LCP's LCR's brand new, and they decided they don't want them. And expect to either break even or make money after overpaying at a gun show.Another funny thing is when you see two of the same guns and one is 200 more than the other right below. Yes I know about free markets. But in these times more thought should be given where one spends the money for the mortgage. Perhaps we are heading twords more sane pricing , but I wouldn't bet on it yet. Ok my ranting is finished for now. Does everyone have a $3-4000 dollar nighthawk? I can't find mine. lol, Does anyone carry $3000 dollar guns around. Man I sure would hate to have to shoot a perp with one of those, and get it scratched and banged up before it came back. Trying to get the scribe marks off the slide is heart wrenching, even with a less expensive $400-1000 dollar gun.

Just because you would not pay foolish amounts for a gun does not mean someone else won't. If someone wasn't paying outragious prices for guns, people probably would not be asking them. Just be glad you arn't their customer.

I have seen inflated prices even on Hi Points.

The shelves at the local shops are starting to fill back up with EBRs. The place I bought my AR lower from was knocking 10% off just to get them out the door.

I can't say what the inventory looks like at the stores that tacked another 25% over MSRP onto everything in their inventory after the election...I no longer do business there.

*edit*
With the slow down, it seems the price-gouging shops are hurting for business. Maybe screwing customers over wasn't the best long-term sales approach. Maybe some good will come of this and they will close down because customers got fed up and went to shops with fair prices and good service.

be careful this thread is sure to fall apart like the other one on IL gun shows did. I'm sure soon someone will come along to defend the poor gunstore that overpriced everything in an attempt to GOUGE his customers. Oh well, thats the way it goes. Hopefully that guy enjoys being out of business.

The place where I buy stripped lowers and such--jacked their prices after the Obamination came along---I just told em I'll see ya in 6 months---now everything is back to normal and I thinking about getting another lower.

I can't blame them for trying to get all they can---just don't expect me to participate in it.

Everybody panic-purchased last year. People who thought they would never be able to buy an AR-15 were throwing down $1500 for whatever they could get their hands on.

Ammo too... Now they are seeing demand go down, and the economy is in the toilet. All the people who caused this bubble are now watching it burst in front of them. HA-HA I say. Serves them right. This whole last year was predictable from the day the DNC chose it's candidate. I am smiling as I watch ammo prices fall back down to pre-DNC levels and watching as the used market fills with barely fired rifles, pistols and shotguns. Their prices will drop too.

Then there are just the scamsters. Like the guy who owns the Indoor range here in town that buys all the WWb at Wal-Mart and sells it for 55 cents a round to people who use his range. The kicker is that they used to sell reloads before the panic began.

There is also some joker on Florida Gun Trader trying to sell a "Rare Pre-Ban Saiga" that can take "any AK mag". The nut is asking $1200. Been there for months, thankfully.

Everybody just needs to take a step back from the computer, put down their credit cards, and in a few months it will be like it never happened.

Florida Gun Exchange didn't. They held with their regular mark up and sold a ton of guns. I appreciate a company like that. No, I don't work there. I'm just a pleased repeat customer.

I totally agree!!! Although I'm not in Florida, there are a precious few gun shops that I frequent here in central Texas that maintained reasonably fair pricing in the midst of all the chaos and gouging this past year. Those of the companies that will continue to get my business in the future. To hell with all the others!!

So did my local guy, none of the insane markup people saw elsewhere, and at other shops locally.

I know a guy locally that spent almost 15K on ARs in the last year. He told me the other day that at the prices he is seeing them for now his 15k is worth about 8 or so. I told him, you helped create the artificial price, you can blame yourself for its collapse.

i know several folks who carry a 1911 around that usually run in the $2000+ range. i believe in carrying what ever you shoot the best than is reliable. i figure i need to survive the fight before i can worry about it.

i think i'd retire a winning handgun from carry anyway

Check out Guns America, if you want to see some really irrational prices. Especially on old revolvers. I am never selling anymore guns. I took 3 out of the safe earlier, and ended up breaking them down and putting a drop of oil on a nice clean cloth, and wiping down the slides. It's then that the light hit me, they were all so beautiful, how could I take one away from his friends. Nice unmarked nickel and blued pistols, all clean and shiny. Every time I sell one I kick myself later. even have one I have been saving for 45 years, with the intent of selling it, and now I don't want to sell that one either. My Browning 22 rifle. I have no reason to keep it since I never shoot rifles, but hate the idea of not being able to look at it. Is that a disease like the swine flue. The gun flu, pistolitis, lol

if you really want to be ticked, look in an FFL dealer catalogue then go into your local gun shop. I don't buy in shops unless it's used and a phenomenal deal. I like my G20(during the panic) NIB for less than $500.

who needs a 3000.00 gun when a 450.00 gun works just as good. those who have a 2000.00 and up gun for carry are just doing it to show off they have deep pockets. i see some people Open Carry and show off their Wilson and Colt 1911s big whoopee look at my Ruger SR9 i carry more bullets then 2 Mags of their 1911s:eek: a 1911 is nothing more then a relic collection, cuz when TEOTWAWKI happens you will need more then 8 or 9 bullets to defend yourself in a SHTF situation. i am happy with my High capacity 9mm 17+1 Mags, i rather invest the other 2 grand in ammo and survival equipment then spent it on one gun.

Obviously you have never shot a 3K dollar 1911. Otherwise you wouldnt post about it being just for show. I would put one against your 450 dollar wonder-nine almost any day in as far as accuracy, etc. The 1911 is no more an aged relic than any other gun out there. I carry a officers model with an extra 10 rd mag on me. That makes 18 rounds of 45acp handloads with GDHPs. I do not feel undergunned at all. Its funny, revolvers are good enough for most. The odds of being in an extended firefight are pretty low, and even if you were, your 17rds of 9mm arent going to win a battle, no handgun is made for that.

The reason I carry my 1911 vs my XD 9 is because I shoot more accurately with it. The reason I carry my 1911 vs my CZ-75 is because I don't have a holster for my cz-75 yet.

It's what puts bullets into where ya want that counts, not how many or how much, etc.
