Academys in central Texas are selling good quality brass cased Monarch 9mm ammo for $7.99 a box. Bought 10 boxes and that was the maximum. Would have bought more at that price if they'd let me.

I've shot several thousand rounds of this stuff over the years and it's been great.

Get it while its hot and in-stock.

I love Monarch for range and practice. I think its exclusive to Academy stores only and I try to get as much of it as I can whenever its available when I periodically check at four of my local stores.

Just picked up 10 boxes, too. When the ad came out earlier this week, the store clerk mistakenly told me the price was for the steel case version. Reading this thread made me go back and look again. Now they got it correct - $7.99 is for the brass version. I had to go to two different Academy stores to get around their 5boxes per customer rule.

Now I only wish somebody around here would stock 380ACP...

Nope, brand new brass case factory ammo from Serbia. Made to NATO spec. I think its only sold at Academy Sports and Outdoors stores in Texas and the South.

I've put several thousand rounds of the 9mm stuff through several guns and its a great shooting, reliable, range round that's never failed me.

I hope these prices don't mean they won't be carrying it anymore.

After reading this thread i went and did the same thing... added another 500rds to my surplus

Ive shot MAYBE 2,000 rds of this stuff in various calibers (.223 both steel and brass, .380, 9mm and 45)... never had a SINGLE problem.

Runs pretty damn clean too.

I picked up some as well, took them out yesterday and burned though a 150 flawless rounds though my FNP-9, seems to be pretty good ammo.

Oh and I also picked up 5 boxes of Monarch brass .380 for my friend as well for 14.99 a box.

Wal Mart has Federal 115 grain JHP at $9.87/box.

1. I don't reload, so I don't know if the brass is reloadable.

2. Not the Wal-Marts in my area. They have no 9mm, 40 or 45 of any kind, and only seem to receive a few boxes here or there...which are always gone by the time I'm there.

Our Wal Mart doesn't always have the Federal 9mm in stock, but you can usually find it at least once or twice every two weeks or so if you check regularly.

I do Blazer or AE for 9 or 10 bucks a box. No Academy's around my area. In fact, I never knew it existed till I came on here.
