I wasn`t even actively looking but there it was,the price was right (boy was it ever!) and I always thought one would be perfect for my wife so I put it on layaway on the spot. (Hey honey guess what,I just bought you a handgun!!! :what: :D ) I plan to pick it up next week, then fire it for function and then the fun part...customizing it (hey it`s basically a tiny 1911 after all)! Here`s the problem,Scott MacDougal and Assoc (www.colt380.com) the Colt. 380 gurus are no longer doing business due to Doug McD`s illness (I hate to hear that, darn shame, hope he makes a full recovery). Anyone know where I can find goodies for this little gem (stainless guide rod, stainless mag release, sights, grips etc.)? Any experiences with these guns good or bad? Marcus

Although I haven't yet found a gov pocketlite stainless in like new condition to buy, I have purchased two each stainless mustang and pony pocketlites. They've all been 100% reliable.

I am also sorry to hear about Scott McDougal & Assoc troubles. I was going to send all 4 of my little Colts to them for some enhancements but will have to wait.

I thought I had a few websites bookmarked that had some Colt 380 parts and maybe even did work on them but I can't seem to find them. If I do run across the sites I'll post the URL.

I also own a Mustang Pocketlite that I think a lot of. It was the first pistol I bought after obtaining my CCW. (You know how you feel that first time you venture out while "packing legally". You want something small.) I have upgraded the recoil spring to a Wolff one-piece extra strength (one pound) model and Mac Scott sent me an amazingly light titanium guide rod. (When I got the little padded package, I was SURE that my guide rod had fallen out or someone had stolen it. It's VERY light. He was out of triggers though. I reckon I'll have to send it to "Cylinder & Slide" for that. Well, I wanted some other things too and the e-mail that was posted from the guy from C&S makes him sound like a good guy.

I`ve been checking around on this little guy and one article says that full sized 1911 mag catches are the same and interchange and that slimline grips grips screws or standard 1911 screws shortened work on the .380s. Can anyone confirm it? I`d like to add a few odds and ends to dress it up a little for the missus. :) Marcus

Marcus...

I don't know about the grip screws, but I recommend RBCD Ammunition. RBCD is what I tested in my Mustang and I liked what I saw so much, I ordered some in .32ACP,.38 Special and .40 S&W.

My wife has been carrying a Colt Government Model Pocketlite .380 since 1996. We both have our Texas CHL and she uses her little Colt as not only her carry gun but to qualify with as well. It is accurate and totally reliable. I tried to talk her into carrying another gun but she feels comfortable with the Colt (I am not crazy about SA guns for CHL). That is just my opinion and of course I got over ruled.
