Just bought a gun safe . . .

I just bought a gun safe, because I got it at a big discount. I am going to be moving in a couple of months, so I did not want to drag it all the way into the house. Is it okay to keep it in the garage for a couple of months (with nothing in it). Can anything bad happen?

As long as the garage is dry, it should be fine.

Probably no worse than where it's been stored since manufacture. But if it has carpet-covered wooden shelves, be aware that those materials can absorb moisture (unless perhaps still wrapped in factory packaging?). So either prevent that from happening, or dry it out completely before storing guns in it.

Just go ahead and put your heater in it, (goldenrod?). That'll help keep the moisture out.

Put it up on a pallet or risers to keep it off the floor.

I unpackaged it and it had a little rust on the corner and some scratches. Any recommendations?
